If you thought the hype surrounding Lawn Mowing Simulator was ludicrous earlier this year, then you might be even more surprised to know that Gas Station Simulator is currently a Steam best seller on PC.
The game is currently sitting above the likes of Deathloop and Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of popularity on the platform, and you guessed it - it's coming to Xbox too, with a release window set for 2022.
As you might expect, Gas Station Simulator is all about renovating, expanding and running a gas station, and you do this along a highway in the middle of a desert. There's plenty to get involved with, such as keeping track of stock, hiring employees, diving into deep management features and customising your gas station, as well as serving customers.
The Xbox One (and PS4) port is being developed by MD Games, and all we know so far is that it's arriving sometime next year. If you can't wait and you have a PC, the prologue (Gas Station Simulator: Early Days) is free on Steam.
"Buy an abandoned gas station and restore it to its full glory. Renovate, upgrade and expand upon the offered services to keep up with your clients demands."
Have you bought into the hype of Gas Station Simulator? Let us know down in the comments below.

I have a new game coming out. It's called "Dayjob Simulator 20XX." In it, you get to simulate doing a dayjob. Do a better job, win more points, get higher accolades. Do it worse, and it's game over! The next player gets their big chance! I'll sit around playing video games that don't suck all day while you
suckersdaredevil competitorsget stuck doing my job for mesee if you have what it takes to make it to the top of the day!@NEStalgia
It's already been done. Shenmue!
@Otis_Z_Firefly LOL!
@SplooshDmg quick question, are all the "simulator" games done by the same team? Like farming simulator, thief simulator, job simulator etc as I've always wondered why all those are on playstation but flight simulator isn't. And in comparison how flight simulator seems to be on another level compared to the other simulator games
@UltimateOtaku91 This is an odd question… No one owns the “simulator” name on its own as a video game brand. Anyone can make a game and call it something something simulator, so long they don’t use the same name.
Microsoft Flight Simulator might Microsoft’s older gaming IP, just about 2 years younger than Microsoft itself.
Arguably, Sony could make a game tomorrow and call it “Sony’s Flight Simulator” if they wanted. It’s possible Microsoft would challenge the trademark, but that could go either way, since the trademark in this case includes Microsoft’s name. There is a chance Microsoft also has trademarks on variations of the name, though.
Anyways, there are some companies that only make simulator games. Giant Software only makes sim games, although they only done two games that are not Farming Simulator XX. There are others that just delve in it. And then there are tons of indies jumping in on the bandwagon.
@SplooshDmg man I remember walking into the computer section of stores before Windows was even popular, and seeing DOS computers on display highlighting Flight Sim with tons of flight controller sticks attached. It made me think for quite a long time some people purchased computers, and all those peripherals, simply so they could play MS Flight Sim. It was the only PC game I knew about at all until Doom became a thing.
@SplooshDmg @Tharsman ah I see I actually thought the simulator games were part of a series of games 😂
@SplooshDmg Totally agree
