Hades, the magnificent roguelike which graced a few platforms last year, is finally making its way to Game Pass this week. As such, a new wave of players will be able to dive into the award-winning title and see what the fuss is about.

Ahead of its launch on August 13, a wave of reviews for the Xbox version have dropped - including our own.

Here's a sample of reviews that have been published today of Hades for Xbox (and/or PlayStation):

God Is A Geek (9.5/10)

"Hades is exceptional, and the more you play it, the more you love it."

Millimetre-perfect combat, responsive controls, stunning visuals and fantastic music combine to create a truly world-beating experience. If you haven’t had the pleasure of playing it yet, you owe it to yourself to give it a go on PlayStation 5 or Xbox."

Pure Xbox (9/10)

"As expected, Hades knocks it out of the park, offering a stellar experience to Xbox players for the first time. It's every bit as incredible as it was a year ago, with punchy combat, an addictive gameplay loop and a cast of characters that prove to be charming and terrifying in the same breath."

Hardcore Gamer (4.5/5)

"Hades already looked great, but experiencing it in 4k on current-gen consoles is a sight to behold. Hades received numerous accolades and critical acclaim during the previous year, all of which it remains worthy of here. Supergiant has a built a name for themselves with a small but consistent library of games and Hades may be their crowning achievement (so far). "

Game Revolution (Highly Recommended)

"Though it’s disappointing to learn that cross-save isn’t feasible for the PlayStation and Xbox versions, everything else about the game remains intact. 4K 60 on the latest generation of consoles is a joy to witness, with even the Series S pushing out the vast number of pixels. It’s an experience that’s indistinguishable from the PC version, which is the highest praise when it comes to performance and quality."

GamingBible (Highly Recommended)

"I could still happily wax poetic about Hades. I could tell you it's 'undoubtedly a masterpiece', and it's 'all about the journey', but I've said all that before (literally quotes from a piece I wrote). Instead, I implore you to play this game because it's a masterpiece of otherworldly proportions, as if it was sent from Olympus itself."

As you can see, the game is still as legendary as it was a year ago on other systems. Finally, Xbox players can take the plunge into the Underworld, in the hopes they'll emerge victoriously. There's no Metacritic score for the Xbox version at the time of writing, but it sounds as though it will be in the 90s.

Hades launches for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on August 13 via Xbox Game Pass.
