With Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water (or as it'll be known in Europe, Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water) finally making its way to Xbox this October, many players are excited to jump into the iconic horror game. As an added bonus, Xbox Series X and Series S owners will get an enhanced version of the game when it launches.
Koei Tecmo announced the news on Twitter, confirming the game will leverage the power of Smart Delivery. No details on the specifics of the upgrade have been provided yet, but we imagine it's going to make those intense spooky moments even more unbearable.
The next-gen versions, as well as the Xbox One version, are set to include the game's previously confirmed new features. Fatal Frame: Maiden of the Black Water adds a new photo mode, along with new cosmetics and other accessories. Arriving just in time for Halloween, it will make for the perfect spooky season treat.

A game whose sole combat mechanic revolves around taking photos is getting a photo mode.
THE WHOLE GAME IS A [expletive] PHOTO MODE!
Oooo awesome news.
Q) Are you looking forward to Fatal Frame: Maiden of the Black Water?
A) I am very much looking forward to re-experiencing this game and the enhancements on the Xbox Series X will be appreciated. It's a nice bit of news to go along with the reveal of all the new costumes added in to the game, and along with lots of interview info from the producer of the series as of late, I'm feeling particularly hyped up to play this.
I do wonder how large it's file size will be though. The only other game I'll have downloaded this year will be Bright Memory Infinite (I hope; it's been a bit quiet on it's exact release date) so I should have plenty of room on my Xbox Series X.
Its still weird to me to see this on Xbox and PlayStation as Nintendo co-owns the franchise. What a world we live in.
I got it on Wii U, it's pretty decent but the combat was weird to me. I was imagining it only takes a photo or 2 to kill a ghost before buying it but it takes 20+ shots and you have to line up fragments floating in the air which isn't scary it's goofy. I get the idea in that some ghosts are reenacting how they died so you need time to understand but most ghosts don't have unique stories to tell and you just shoot them over and over again with this weird 3 lens systems that's also dumb. Good game but really bad combat.
I loved this game on wii u!
I have the special physical edition. Very scary game using the wiiu gamepad gyroscope.
Will double dip on Series S and wondering how the game mechanics will translate?
Hoping the experience will be as good if not better on Series S.
