Xbox's Major Nelson had Sea of Thieves executive producer Joe Neate on his podcast last week, and it provided the perfect opportunity for him to "apologise" for an awkward question he asked the Rare dev a few months ago.
Back in February, Major Nelson (real name Larry Hryb) casually mentioned that Sea of Thieves didn't need something like a crossover with Pirates of the Caribbean as the team was "already doing so much better than anything like that," not knowing that Rare was in the process of doing exactly that with Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life.
And so, as part of Neate's appearance on the podcast again last week, Nelson used the opportunity to apologise for putting the Rare dev in an awkward position at the time, saying he "feel[s] terrible, but it was a fun moment."
"You have this look on your face. I didn't know. Clearly, you knew. You had this look on your face, which was like a deer in the headlights. I apologise that I put you in that position, Joe. I feel terrible, but it was a fun moment."
"Yeah, it was a... Again, I apologise. But again, that's the level of secrecy that you had. People think that I know all the secrets, and I certainly don't."
Neate took it all in good humour, of course, mentioning that loads of people on the Sea of Thieves team clipped that part of the video and sent it to him the following day, saying things like "they didn't want to play poker against me."

Ha, that is pretty funny. Shouldn't he have known about that though?
@Dezzy no alot of stuff is need to know and major Nelson isn't on a need to know for alot of stuff.
I also assume with how leaky Xbox has been like projects 2-3 years out has gotten out. They will clamp down on this stuff even more
LOL, that's hysterical. One of those hindsight moments that was handled super well. Poor guy.
Tough spot for Larry, too. Who would guess randomly mentioning a Disney property it was already in the works and few knew?
