X-Com 2 Developer Firaxis Games To Announce 'Several Exciting Projects' This Year

Firaxis Games - the team behind fantastic games such as XCOM 2 and the Sid Meier's series - will be announcing "several exciting projects" this year, it was revealed in a recent earning's call.

During Take-Two's Q4 2021 earning's call, Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two's chairman and chief executive officer, spoke about the success Firaxis Games had last year. According to Zelnick, the studio had one of its best years to date, and was thanks to the continued growth of Sid Meier's Civilization VI through its post-launch support.

But the success appears to be set to continue, as Take-Two are expecting the growth to continue with several new projects in the works that are expected to be revealed this year.

"Civilization VI's daily active users have grown steadily since the game's release more than five years ago. And to date, the title has sold in over 11 million units. As a result of the engagement from the past, as well as the success of XCOM: Chimera Squad and XCOM 2 on Switch, Firaxis Games had one of its best years ever.

"We expect this growth to continue as the studio has several exciting projects in development that will be revealed this year."

It's been five years since the launch Sid Meier's Civilization VI and XCOM 2, so now would be a perfect time for a new entry. There was XCOM: Chimera Squad on PC last year, but was far from a fully fledged entry. We'd love to see a new entry in either series come to fruition, and it sounds like we won't have to wait too long to see what the studio has in store.
