There's been a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming new version of Microsoft Edge for Xbox in recent months, but a member of Team Xbox has warned that it'll still be a little while until it releases publicly.
At the moment, it's available to members of the Xbox Insiders program, and has been adding features like mouse and keyboard support recently. But for everyone else, Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie says it'll be a bit longer of a wait:
It'll be interesting to see what other new features (if any) are added to the browser in that time, but at the very least, the ability to use mouse and keyboard will be transformative compared to the current Edge browser on Xbox.
And of course, there's a lot of eagerness surrounding the (potential) ability to play Steam games via NVIDIA GeForce Now, for example, so it'll be interesting to see if that's a possibility in the final version. Let's hope so!
Looking forward to the new Microsoft Edge browser for Xbox? Let us know down in the comments below.

any news on when bouts it will be ready ??? i want to surf the net on my series x
Wonder if steam streaming and how to block it is part of why it's delayed.
EdgeHTML + Chakra (together powering Edge Legacy) is my favorite.
Not only compared to "Edge" Chromium, but to all web browsers.

Damn right I'm looking forward to it. I currently only have one job because I quit my other cleaning job because the staff there kept catching or coming into contact with people who tested positive for coronavirus. If I still have internet it would make looking for work at home easier as I currently only have this tablet and there's no way I'm going to a library. Cheap keyboard and mouse from B&M is all I'll need.
@Tharsman hopefully not 🤞😬
@The_New_Butler I mostly use the browser on Xbox to find achievement guides, because the achievement list has a built in tool to do this and almost always (for me, always) top result is the correct True Achievements page entry for the trophy, followed by the Xbox Achievement entry.
Really looking forward to have a full browser to make that even smoother.
Also, got to say, I do a lot of work on stuff that can be done 100% on a browser. I might actually get a wireless keyboard and mouse and, once in a while, do work from my browser, especially if it's full screen. (don't understand why the browser always is shrunk with huge black borders...)
You can even use One Drive and Office 365 on Series X/S with this.
@Tharsman Yeah, geforce now worked for a minute when the browser first came out in Beta, but was quickly blocked, seemingly on Nvidias side. I sure hope it comes back though. My PC is a potato, and right now I have a mess of cords and adapters to get it onto my big screen.
