If You 'Like Pain', You Can Use The Original Vehicle Controls In Mass Effect Legendary Edition

We're not sure why you would, but there's an option to use the original Mako vehicle controls in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. For those who don't remember, they were some of the most awkward and unresponsive controls ever seen for commanding a vehicle. Luckily, the remastered version will introduce a new control scheme, but you can play the way it was originally intended - if you're feeling brave.

As mentioned by environment director Kevin Meek in an interview with PC Gamer, the option to return to the original input has been retained "for those people out there who do like pain". For everyone else, new controls have been added, which as Meek describes, is "like night and day".

"For those people out there who do like pain, we've left the option to leave it back kind of closer to the original controls as well if you want."

"Playing the Mako today versus playing the Mako back in the original, especially on PC, it's like night and day. I don't want to thrash my keyboard and mouse after every encounter with the thresher maw or trying to climb a mountain."

Project director Mac Walters also added that, in regards to the original controls, "some people love it, or some people hate it", but we're yet to find anyone who does "love it". So we're going to pop a little poll below, as we're interested to see if there are any of you out there who do love the original controls (we won't judge - promise!).

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is said to improve on them drastically, then, and is a big selling point for the upcoming remaster. With just one week to go, we'll soon be able to try out those improved vehicle controls for ourselves.
