Last year saw the terrible Fast & Furious Crossroads come to Xbox. We played it over the Christmas break for some fun, and it was anything but. If you're one of the unlucky few still reeling from the effects of it, then maybe the family friendly Fast & Furious Spy Racers: Rise of SH1FT3R will take the taste out of your mouth - a new licensed game coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S this November.
Coming from Outright Games - which has actually made some fun little licensed games in all fairness - Rise of SH1FT3R (we can't believe this is actually the title), is a new game based on the Netflix series Fast & Furious Spy Racers. A show we never knew existed until today.
The competitive racer sees players controlling Tony Toretto, Echo, Cisco and Layla Gray as they attempt to take down the criminal organisation SH1FT3R from obtaining an invisible car - we're not making this up at all. The gameplay trailer shows off its arcade racer style across a variety of tracks, as well as some Mario Kart inspired power-ups thrown in for good measure.
The criminal racing organization, SH1FT3R, is back! Use innovative gadgets and tear up the tracks in a globe-trotting tournament. Play as Tony Toretto and the Spy Racers in a bid to stop SH1FT3R from winning the ultimate high-tech vehicle!
No doubt this is one fans of the show will be eager to get their hands on. For the most part, Fast & Furious games haven't been great in the past, which is surprising since it seems like one of the easier properties to translate into a video game format. Maybe Fast & Furious Spy Racers: Rise of SH1FT3R will be the one to break the curse and deliver on its promise? We'll have to wait until November to find out.

😂 Are you sure you're not making this up?
Yes! I like F&F and I like crap F&F games!
(Not sarcasm).
I'd love F&F Showdown to be made back compat, sadly licensing issues will not allow that.
Honestly wish MS would get this license and have Playground Games give us a proper TF&TF game.
Now, after the bang-up job Climax did with Dreamworks Dragons: Dawn of the New Riders, I'll give Outright Games the benefit of the doubt. To be honest, they just have been doing a pretty good job of throwing these (sometimes very poor) kids licenses at competent-to-good devs lately, and after looking up 3D Clouds, it turns out they seem to have done it again.
3D Clouds are the devs behind the recent King of Seas, and they've made several perfectly cart racers. But most importantly, they did Xenon Racer. That sharp af-looking "Basically Ridge Racer, but in the future" racer that came out, like, two years ago on Xbox and Playstation and was unfortunately widely ignored? Definitely interested in seeing what they can do with an arcade racer here, and it honestly looks a bit like an HD version of Need for Speed Nitro or something to me (which, btw, is a thing that should happen. When will EA make an Need for Speed HD Collection and bring games like Underground 1 & 2, Most Wanted 2005, Carbon and Nitro to current consoles?)
I bet this is going to be a lot better than most people are assuming. Even if it's based on a pretty lame (but I guess entertaining in how baffling it is) cartoon. I wonder if Outright Games is going to end up making something based on the Jurassic Park Camp Cretaceous cartoon or something now, if Dreamworks Produced/Netflix movie tie-in cartoons are on the table now. That's, at least for them, a step up from the likes of Paw Patrol games (even though I bet that stuff sells crazy good numbers).
@Vinsanity All i want is that the game would take away the s**t left in our mouths by Crossroads. That's all i ask
