Had any issues watching DVDs on your Xbox Series X? Reports of this have been low, but nevertheless they exist, and a specific issue makes watching select DVDs impossible at the moment because of a bug.
As reported by multiple Twitter users, this problem sees the picture turning green and glitching out when trying to watch certain content, and supposedly the same issue isn't present on Xbox One consoles.

There have only been a few comments along these lines as far as we can see, but nevertheless Xbox director of program management Jason Ronald reached out, telling the affected users that the issue is being investigated.
So, if you've been having any problems watching certain DVDs, you're not alone! Microsoft is definitely now aware of it, and we're assuming it'll be fixed in a coming update. Fingers crossed it's not too difficult to rectify.
Have you run into any issues with DVDs on Xbox Series X? How about Blu-Rays? Let us know below.

If you bought a Series X and you still watch DVDs, there’s a problem.
DVDs will cease to exist in the near future. I honestly couldn’t say the last time I bought or used a dvd. The majority of people these days will be using Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Spotify etc.
I've actually noticed that barely any DVDs work on my Xbox One S. Blu-rays and 4k blus are OK, but it doesn't like DVDs. While I rarely watch anything on DVD, we do have some TV programmes on DVD that were shot in SD and so have no HD version.
Xbox also doesn’t support DTS 96/24 or DTS-ES via bitstream. Trying to use these formats doesn’t work.
96/24 definitely doesn’t work via LPCM since Xbox caps at 48kHz using uncompressed PCM, but it’s odd that bitstream doesn’t do it, either!
@GamingFan4Lyf Yes.
Any Series X owners out there can you help?
Does the Blu Ray Player on the Series X allow you to change the aspect ratio when watching Blu Rays/DVDs?
Had to annoyingly switch from my Xbox One to my PS4 earlier today due to an older film being forced wide-screen on the DVD. I can zoom in on my PS4 but can never do so on the Xbox.
Is there an option to zoom, change ratio on Series X this time round?
Thanks in advance.
@awp69 @MaccaMUFC Disagree. Lots of classic films that were licenced for release on DVD have yet to even see a Blu Ray release, let alone 4k. There's more to film and TV then than the last 5 years.
Sort of related, but has anyone else had their Xbox Series S not be able to turn on? I had mine a little over a week and it wouldn’t turn on anymore. The light would come on for a second, it would make the startup sound, but then there was a clicking sound and nothing.
@P3nguinprisM Use your warranty, had the same isssue on my X 2 days after purchase back in december. Shop I bought it got me new unit
@P3nguinprisM I don't have a Series anything, still on my Xbone, but it may be a power supply issue. I watch a channel called Tronics Fix and most dead Series S and X have a dead power supply, some are the motherboard. If you've tried unplugging it, and any other troubleshooting steps I'm forgetting, warranty is probably your best bet.
Edit: I should add I had to replace the power brick for my Xbox One last year. It went 5 years before being unstable, Wi-Fi dropping, buzzing noises, and Xbox system software popup messages saying "Hardware error" before shutting down. The Series consoles power supplies are internal and not an external brick like the original Xbox One. Spare power supplies are rare on eBay, I only resort to eBay for spare parts when my warranty is expired.
Not watched DVDs in a while but tend to use my little DVD player as it plays all regions. I assume the Xbox is still region locked?
Series X here. Everyone assumes the broadband/internet in their backyard is the same for all. Streaming is right out for us. We still try due to the age we live in now, but we buffer for long periods of time where we have learned to use the bathroom or get new popcorn/snacks. So for my family dvds and blu-rays are the ticket. When any game needs an update, I leave it for the overnight or the work day. If it was the game I was hoping to play, well there's always tomorrow...
