There's a lot of excitement surrounding Xbox exclusive and Game Pass title Stalker 2, which is expected arrive at some point later this year, and developer GSC Game World has addressed why it's only coming to Xbox Series X & S.
Simply put, PR manager Zakhar Bocharov stated to GamingBolt that it would be "impossible" for the game to run on Xbox One due to its requirements, and therefore the focus is solely on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
“S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is a next-gen game, and it’s impossible to run it on Xbox One or PS4.”
For now, GSC Game World also says there are "no plans" to bring Stalker 2 to PlayStation 5, and the big reason is because the team "saw several good opportunities for the brand" by partnering with Microsoft - such as Game Pass.
It looks like Stalker 2 is going to be one of the few next-gen Xbox exclusives of 2021, then, assuming it manages to meet its release window. The team has already confirmed it has "bigger and louder announcements" in store this year.

I'm not bothered by this, tbh.
Given how cool the original game was on PC for it’s time, I can only imagine what this team can accomplish when focusing on Series X|S and PC.
Nothing against the PS5, I just think that this particular developer shines when it has a narrow window of hardware focus - but I guess the same can be said about any developer. The smaller amount of systems to work with, the better the optimization!
I think the original targeted beefy hardware for the time.
Day one purchase for me.
My son loved the first one. I never got a chance to play it but I'm looking forward to the 2nd one.

Am I the only one that thinks calling something exclusive should mean it’s only coming out on one platform? Sooooo this game being a PC release too, means it’s not an Xbox exclusive…
@InfamousOrange Well, this was discussed 4-6 years ago. Xbox exclusive means PC+Xbox console. That‘s it ...

@ThanosReXXX @Mingus I fully understand what it implies. What I’m getting at, we need a different word to describe games coming to Xbox and PC. Exclusive doesn’t mean multiple. When someone says exclusive, I expect it to only be available in one place.
Even this article is confusing, it says “only coming to Xbox series X|S” when it’s in fact coming to PC too. So I’m like, oh so this is a real exclusive? Nope.

@InfamousOrange Well, that just depends on how you look at it, and you're clearly looking outside of the console realm, while this is obviously a statement made purely concerning consoles, so no matter which way you look at it, it's still a console exclusive.
And that is probably also the right label: console exclusive, which doesn't discount it being on PC.
And besides, it's the developers themselves who made this statement, so they apparently had the same thing in mind as me.
On a side note: perhaps we should simply use the label exclusive to Microsoft, that covers everything...

The article here clearly states:

So, I'd say that interpreting that as it only being a timed exclusive, is a bit of a stretch, to put it mildly.
Not saying it can't or won't happen, but that specific statement is not the evidence that supports it.

Well, Push Square, IGN, Gamespot and several others are reporting that its a 3 month exclusive based on the content of the leak which isn't difficult to interpret.
The devs actually said "no plans FOR NOW" so there's no stretching here at all.
@Atreus97 By no stretch of the imagination can "no plans for now" be interpreted as them saying "yep, it's actually only a timed exclusive and we're going to release it on PS5 in 3 months", so that actually IS stretching it.
If that were true, then conversely, the opposite could be said of the statement made by the developers, in which they said that they "saw several good opportunities for the brand" by partnering with Microsoft - such as Game Pass."
That must then surely mean that never in a million years is it going to be released on any other platform than Xbox...
Besides, the developers themselves also stated that the focus is solely on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Emphasis on solely...

Either way, I'm big enough to admit that I stand corrected there. Having said that, though, neither option seems to be chiseled in stone yet. Even the article itself mentions it:
"this could mean it'll arrive on PlayStation 5 after the three-month window. Whether the plans have changed remains to be seen, but if things still stand, then by early 2022, the game could be hitting other platforms."
So, I guess we'll find out when the time comes, then.
