There have been ongoing rumours for a while now that the next entry in the Forza Horizon series will show up before the next mainline Forza Motorsport game, at some point this year.
Now, to add to this, VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb and Xbox insider Klobrille, have both mentioned how fifth entry won't be set in Japan. Yes, we're sorry to say, but despite ongoing fan requests - this dream street racing location apparently won't be featured this time around, either.
While no details have been shared about where this open-world racing series will go next, Klobrille said via ResetEra, how they "might have an idea" about the next location. It's also noted by both of the above-mentioned insiders that they still think the fifth entry will show up at some point this year.
While we're yet to see any official signs of a new Forza Horizon game launching this year, we do now know, as of yesterday - that playtest invites for the next Forza Motorsport entry are starting to be sent out.
Where do you think Forza Horizon will go next? Can you see it arriving this year? Leave a comment down below.

So no Forza Horizon: Tokyo Drift?
Shame really, I don't play forza but would of definitely gave it a go with a Japan setting, imagine driving around akihabara 😂 or driving on the many Japanese coasts and islands
Forza Horizon probably the best Xbox exclusive and probably the most associated with Xbox and praised about Xbox game in the UK.
Forza Horizon 4 stayed in the sales charts and kept popping in and out for ages.
They should make Forza Horizon 5 ready for series console exclusive for this 2021 Christmas.
It’s seems to be now in my age group the only Xbox game people mention with Xbox like, God of war is for PS5 and Zelda for switch.
Forza Horizon 5 will likely be cross-gen, using updated FH4 tech rather than the next-gen Forza 8 tech(which is still under development)
I still think that Horizon 4 getting a Series X upgrade (while Motorsport 7 didn't get one) is an indication that we see Motorsport 8 release before Horizon 5.
Horizon 5 announcement to be linked with the Metal Gear Solid teases: game will be set in Afghanistan and the Angola/Zaire Border Region in a Phantom Pain crossover!
@Carck Yeah, and FH4 did as well. But only FH4 got the Series X upgrade, which says to me that that game is intended to be around for a long while before FH5 comes out. FM7, however, didn't get a Series X upgrade, which tells me that FM8 is closer to release than people think and that it'll arrive before FH5. That's just my opinion anyway.
I'll be surprised if Forza Horizon 5 is released before Forza Motorsport 8. I like both games but when Motorsport 8 is released it needs to be supported more than 7 was with DLC and new cars over time.
@VenomousAlbino
It's possible, but Playground didn't do the Series X/S upgrade.
It was outsourced to Panic Button.
So that means the Horizon team were too busy too do it themselves.
I was of the belief Horizon 5 would launch before Motorsport, but with the recent playtest, I think we might see the opposite now.
I think Canada would be a good setting (and no, I don’t live there). PGR4 had races in Canada and they were really good tracks. An open-world version would be great.
@blinx01 Who did the Series X port for FH4 has nothing to do with my reasoning; just the fact that it happened at all. I'm confident it's because FH4 is going to be THE Horizon game for quite a while, whereas FM7 is going to be usurped by FH8 sooner rather than later.
@Liam_Doolan Love the Initial D reference 😂😂😂
Calling it now, Horizon 5 will feature the festival set in Cleveland.
@SegataSanshiro I never actually played the games but the anime series is one of my favorites.
@Tasuki Haha, glad someone noticed!
Wonder what it will be:
Also curious how they will handle all of the EV's coming out on the market right now. I mean, if $65000 can get you a Kia EV6 with a 0-60 mph sprint in 3,5 seconds... that imbalances price-to-performance ratio quite a bit.
