Update: Microsoft has made it official! Dragon Quest Builders 2 is arriving on Xbox consoles as soon as next Wednesday, May 4th, and it'll be arriving on Xbox Game Pass (including PC and cloud) on the same day.
"Also, as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, you can play Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Xbox and PC with shared saved progress and achievements. We’re thrilled to welcome you to the Isle of Awakening and excited to see you all on May 4!"
Original story: The Microsoft Store appears to have once again revealed an Xbox release ahead of its announcement. This time around it's for Dragon Quest Builders 2, which was released here in the west on the Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam in 2019.
According to the listing, the game will be arriving on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows on 4th May for $49.99 USD. Along with this, it will also supposedly be included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass for PC.
Square Enix's Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a sequel to the 2016 original. It's described as a sandbox action RPG and mixes Minecraft's block-building with Dragon Quest's role-playing elements.

Excellent! I enjoyed this on the switch, I am glad more people will have an opportunity to play it.
Those Japan trips Phil takes keep paying dividends. I hope Heroes gets ported to Xbox, too.
Awesome. Wanted to play this for ages but not enough to put money down on it.
Both Really good games if a little longer than I hoped. Recommended
Thats great. Answering Sony/Nintendo time exclusives with day one gamepass of the ssme titles. I hope to see day one gamepass FF16 and FF7 Remake.
This is awesome I was thinking of buying this as I really enjoyed the first DQB on my switch. As much I like Mine Craft I enjoyed this a lot more. Absolutely adore the Dragon quest and the charm of series. It’s really great that Xbox owners will be able to play more great games like this.
This game was my go to in the first lockdown managed to put a lot of hours into this on the Switch. I won’t play it on Xbox unless by some miracle there is some cross platform support and I can transfer my save. But it’s great others get to play it.
Nice! Been meaning to try this out on my switch but it probably runs better on my series S
@Luigi_Skywalker Yeah same, this series is totally my favorite mining/crafting style game. It's got all that Dargon Quest style and you can do pretty much anything you want with the world.
Wonderful news! NieR, Judgement, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Scarlet Nexus, Tales of Arise all popping off right now and in the near future?! It's getting reeeeeally hard for the haters to pretend Xbox doesn't have Japanese games, much less games in general. Best Xbox gen just getting started!
My 6 year old daughter has loved this on switch for a year, it’s more story driven than mine craft. Highly recommend for parents to consider.
Oh sweet!!! Hope it plays amazing on Series X.
Nice will be playing this 👍
0 interest in this game but still nice to see more Japanese games making the jump over to Xbox.
Although I hope MS manage to get a few more games out of Square Enix.
Ow yeah! Great game. Had 1, seen no2 and played the demo but somehow never got to playing it. Very happy
@papahefe thing is they still gonna say there is nothing to play just because all of these games are available on their preferred platform. Thats how their logic works.
Great, an opportunity for me to check this game out 😃
Well let's be honest it's a 2 year old game so should be expected to be on gamepass day one it's not a big deal, but onto the game itself it's a really good game, better than Minecraft in my opinion especially the combat plus added town building
Always wanted to try this game! Got to get working on that backlog, what a great problem to have. Thanks GamePass!
As May begins on Saturday, this week would seem likely for a batch of early May Game Pass announcements.
@dennisforss
I'd certainly hope so. I saw the DF analysis video and was appalled by the performance on Switch. Was it ever patched?
Kind of amazed it took so long. People seem to love this game, so that's a good get for Xbox.
@UltimateOtaku91 It is a big deal because the Dragon Quest series is new to Xbox. For a $50 game that is new to the system, it’s awesome!
@gingataisen I think so. Apart from a very long opening load time, it seemed to run okay on switch - unless there were a lot of enemies and particles onscreen then it might drop a few frames
@awp69 but it's not £50 anymore I can get it on ps4 for £12-£15
@UltimateOtaku91 It is $50 on Xbox!!! Look at the screenshot in the article or look it up on the Xbox store itself.
@awp69 I know that but I'm saying it's been out for two years and is cheap on other systems so it was to be expected that this would release on gamepass, many people won't pay that £50 price
Very cool. I still need to finish the first DQB, I beat the first two worlds I think and then got sidetracked. Should finish that up so I can start the sequel.
Great games! I somewhat enjoyed the first more than the second, if only because I think the second started really dragging when you hit the castle/war-torn area. But great games nonetheless.
@The_New_Butler I loved the first two worlds, the farm and mining towns in DQB2, but Moonbrooke, the castle, just dragged and dragged. I think because it was less a building/exploration/dungeon crawling area and felt more like a slow, protracted tower defense game. I think it kind of broke the pace of the game in a bad way, while 1 didn't have any out of place things that dragged like that, other than that stupid bird boss.
