Xbox has announced that it will continue its partnership with Samsung as the official TV partner in the US & Canada.
The two companies are said to “push the boundaries of next-gen gaming”. One of the ways Samsung is doing this is via a partnership with AMD to develop the first TV with FreeSync Premium Pro, which will allow for an even brighter image through HDR than ever before, and “offer variable refresh rates from a console GPU for smooth, stutter free gaming”. Perfect for owners with an Xbox Series X.
Samsung’s Neo QLED and standard QLED TV’s are said to boast the best picture quality with ”incredible 4k clarity, contrast, and at a silky-smooth 120 frames per second”. The 2021 line of models will also feature a Game Bar mode for when the TV is set to Game Mode. Here, owners “can easily adjust the screen’s aspect ratio, check input lag, connect wireless headsets, and more”.
“With a low 5.8ms response time, auto low latency mode, variable refresh rate, and other gaming features designed with the next generation games in mind, Samsung Neo QLED and QLED TVs help unlock the performance of Xbox Series X.
Whether you’re playing games like Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Dirt 5 or Yakuza Like a Dragon, or dipping into your backlog to play Gears 5, now with Versus optimized to 120 frames per second, Samsung Neo QLED and QLED TVs will showcase your gaming library at its very best for years to come.”
It seems if you want the definitive next-gen experience, then Samsung is the place to go. With a vast selection of older TVs, and the new wave with exciting new features, the partnership seems to be delivering on all fronts.

I have 65” Q90R with my series x and it looks extremely good. The HDR really pops because of the 1200 nits of brightness.
Also the VRR works perfectly.
Also the one connect box is a great idea as I have this hung on the wall and the one thin wire well hidden.
Yeah I have the 65" Q80T for Series X. It does good things. While the 120hz option is nice, I tend to leave the console at 60hz for the fidelity. Testing Cold War for example, the game looks a lot better at 60hz without ray tracing, without HDR than it does at 120hz, and the VRR makes the 60hz silky smooth. Although I'm pretty sure the system hits 60fps without problems.
It sounds to me like xCloud for Samsung TVs is going to be abounded any day now...
I believe Xbox partnered with Samsung with the Xbox One X as well.
I don't have a 4K TV, but I think I would still go with an LG OLED when I finally upgrade. It has all HDMI 2.1 offerings the QLED has, plus True Black, plus Dolby Vision, which is more widely adopted in streaming services - something Samsung doesn't support since Samsung is one of the companies funding HDR10, HDR10+.
LG supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision - and I bet the 2021 models will support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
@GamingFan4Lyf Yes Microsoft were a part of HDMI 2.1 format development and had partnered with LG, Samsung to make early adoption of HDMI 2.1 in their TV lineup.
I made a post the other day on one of threads I created in the forum on this site, I mentioned some info regarding one of the new Neo QLED models, the QN95A which is the flagship 4K model and the 65” should be about £2,400 which I’m planning on buying. I can’t wait, I should have it in time for MS Flight Simulator and Halo Infinite.
I just grabbed an LG OLED CX 65 inch. Works great with my Series X.
@Dezzy70 its seems great(one connect box) but if they are built like their orders ones they will fail in about 3-4 years, 3 Samsung’s with them and two older ones have new on connect boxes on the as mine failed….Samsung did replace the oldest one for free as there was a recall the middle aged one cost me 50$ lets hope my new one holds out…
@Blessed_Koz
Yeah my Vice President at work had his one connect box fail on him.
This years 2021 new top Samsung’s TVs have a new one connect box, it’s a totally slim different shape as well. A total redesign.
@MaccaMUFC
I have Q90R 65” but this year I might upgrade to the 65” QN95A. Totally new redesigned one connect box as well very slim.
Also it still as the flat to wall mount option as well.
At £2400 is ok, but by November you might get it for around £1900. That’s what normally happens.
I am still looking for a 4K TV for my Series X, but the are so expensive now. That and I don't want a Smart TV.
Samsung and LG are definitely the top TV manufacturers right now, when I am in the market for a new one I am usually looking out for them.
Whatever you do don’t get an Acer monitor for Series X. I’ve complained before but I can’t get 4K or HDR working even though both work fine with PS5 and PC. I guess Acer and MS aren’t friends!
Anybody know of a few TVs that support Dolby Vision? Or some sound setups to support Dolby Audio? Would make for a great article (plus ad revenue hehe)
@Dezzy70 The reviews are out now for the QN95A and the 65” is priced at £2,999. Looks like I’ll be waiting for that price drop. I’m fine with paying £2,499 in November but it’s whether or not it does get a price drop before the end of this year. I was planning on getting the tv in July, I could get a cheaper model like the 65” QN85A but even that will be about £2,599.
@StonyKL right now surround sound setups on the series X are a total disaster as no receiver out right now allows you on the Series X or Nvidia video cards are able to run 4K/120fps….they say they do but do some research and you’ll see they are flat out lying about it right now…I’ve had a experience trying to get 4K/120hz with hdr and Dolby vision going on a brand new 1500$ Denon receiver and its not possible, many write up about it….as for a tv with Dolby vision that works great with the series X i still think the best bang for your buck is the LG cx9 last month at bestbuy it was 1500 almost bought one but I’m gonna keep using Samsung’s for now..
