Turtle Rock Studios has announced that the upcoming cooperative horror shooter Back 4 Blood will no longer be releasing in June, and instead will be targeting a new date of October 12.

The spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead has received a delay of four months to ensure the game is the "best it can possibly be at launch", the studio confirmed. To soften the blow, an open beta will be up in the summer, allowing all players the opportunity to test the game before it goes live later this year.

It was originally announced at The Game Awards back in December, and the footage we were shown wore its Left 4 Dead inspirations on its sleeve. If we're not going to get another entry in the franchise, then we will happily take this.

Take your time, folks.
