Gamescom Returns For 2021 With Opening Night Live Surprises

Gamescom will be returning again this year on August 24, both physically and digitally, in a new hybrid show format. Most notable is Geoff Keighley hosting the Opening Night Live show, which he promises to be filled with "surprises".

Much like previous years, the Opening Night Live show will contain "video game announcements, news and surprises". Last year we got a look at several upcoming games, such as Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Dragon Age 4. More news is promised to be coming on the event later this summer.

Not only that, but the show organisers have announced a physical Gamescom counterpart will also be taking place. The show floor will feature a "reduced amount of on-site visitors, which focuses on the testing of new games live on-site". It will be interesting to see if this element goes ahead with the current pandemic, or how an event of this nature will look, but nevertheless we'll find out more this summer.
