To the absolute surprise of no one, Call of Duty will be returning this year with a brand new iteration, as announced by Activision in a recent earnings call.
With the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and the immensely popular Warzone, the series appears to still be a huge success. As a result, expect another mainline entry this year during Q4, as confirmed by Activision's chief financial officer Dennis Durkin during yesterday's financial call. No developer has been confirmed as of yet.
"We will benefit from a full year of Warzone driving upgrades to our premium content and incremental in-game player investment, and we have a substantial opportunity to continue migrating the community to Black Ops Cold War as well as another strong premium release planned for Q4 in 2021"
Activision has worked hard on integrating both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone into one package, so it will be interesting to see how it all carries over into this year's entry.

Extra surprise, Nuketown will be in it.
Meh. Looking forward to the new battlefield. Here's to hoping it's a good one. CoD has essentially become madden. Yearly iterations, with very little new content.
What would the 15 year olds do without their 15 year out of date brown shooty shooty pow pow game?
I wish Rockstar releases games this much..
@VenomousAlbino Probably not because it's either IW doing the game or Sledgehammer.
From what rumors and leaks I have heard it's Sledgehammer doing a somewhat futuristic one with a working title of Word War III, but take that with a grain of salt.
Like COD MW, dislike the integration of Warzone into it, I’d like them to be installed separately thanks, and still play the multiplayer in MW, not Warzone.
@PhhhCough Sadly Battlefield isn't what it used to be. The series peaked with BF4 and it's been on the decline ever since. I have given up on the franchise at this point.
@JayJ I didn't care for the whole "levolution" schtick they introduced in that game. But imagine if you will, "Battlefield: Bad Company 3"
