You can now begin downloading the first batch of February 2021's Xbox Live Games With Gold titles (one day early!), which are the Xbox Series X and Xbox One game Gears 5, Xbox One game Resident Evil (HD) and original Xbox game Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. All three titles are available right now from the Microsoft Store (links at the bottom of the page).
Here's what you can look forward to:
Gears 5 (February 1 - 28):
From one of gaming’s most acclaimed sagas, Gears 5’s celebrated campaign and refreshed multiplayer are optimized with new features for the Xbox Series X|S update.
With all-out war descending, Kait Diaz breaks away to uncover her connection to the enemy and discovers the true danger to Sera – herself. New campaign features let you take your character and weapon skins into new playthroughs and enjoy bonus difficulties and modifiers.
Resident Evil (February 1 - 28)
The game that defined the survival-horror genre is back! Check out the remastered HD version of Resident Evil. In 1998 a special forces team is sent to investigate some bizarre murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Upon arriving they are attacked by a pack of blood-thirsty dogs and are forced to take cover in a nearby mansion. But the scent of death hangs heavy in the air. Supplies are scarce as they struggle to stay alive.
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb (February 1 - 15):
Indy returns for a heart-stopping new adventure in Indiana Jones® and the Emperor's Tomb™! It's 1930s China, and Indiana Jones has been hired to recover one of the most powerful artifacts know to man before it falls into hostile hands. Join Indy in an epic, globe-spanning race that pits him against the Nazis and the Asian underworld in a harrowing quest for the mysterious "Heart of the Dragon".
You can download all three games from the following links over at the Microsoft Store:
- Gears 5 (February 1 - 28)

I’m actually gonna go old school and try Indiana Jones I’ve heard it’s pretty great. Don’t know how well it’ll have aged though.
Nice of them to offer Indiana Jones, that's a real blast from the past.
All three look alright. Can always delete them if not liked
@Fenbops
It's an authentic Indy experience and if you can overlook the clunky controls (by today's standards) you'll have fun. It has it all: the soundtrack, interesting locales, humour and Nazis
Might as well add Gears for if I stop subscribing to Gamepass, Resident Evil is great but I already own it and I'm looking forward to playing Indiana Jones.
Guys, a question: I'm actually going to download all three but do I get to keep those games for as long as I subscribe to GPU only? Will I lose access to them once I stop? Not that I'm planning to, just wondering.
@gollumb82 Games with Gold are yours to keep even if your subscription runs out as far as I'm aware, thats the big difference between this and PS Plus where you lose access to them
@gollumb82 Xbox and Xbox 360 games are for you to keep forever, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S games for as long as you are subscribed to either Game Pass Ultimate or Gold.
@carlos82
Thanks mate! This is a really big difference and another win for Xbox then. My PS Plus sub ends in June, but my PS4 PRO has been in someone else's hands since October 😁
@BlueOcean
I suspected it would be too good to be true... Still, I'm not going to jump off the Game Pass badwagon anytime soon so no biggie. Thanks for the update!
@BlueOcean I didn't realise there was a distinction between them, its been a while since I wasn't subscribed 😂
Great week for gold..
@gollumb82 No problem, happy to help. I'm subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate as well 😁.
Funny thoght that crossed my mind, remember how the internet went crazy at the possibly of an Indiana Jones being exclusive to Xbox?
Well, there are 3 Indiana Jones games out there that can only be played on Xbox!
Lego Indiana Jones 1, 2 and The Emperors Tomb. Can't play any of those on a PS4 nor PS5.
Back compat is awesome 😎
Don't forget to 'get' Gears of War 5. Unlike on Game Pass, it's now yours to keep this way.
@Bartig You still need to have a Gold sub though; it's only the 360 and original Xbox games you get to keep.
I added Dead Rising recently on GPU but it doesn't actually say it's 'owned' like the others. Not sure why.
@dmcc0 Really? Wow, that's... special.
@Bartig It is called Games with Gold. The clue is kinda in the name 😉
@dmcc0 No, I meant: you don't get to keep the Xbox One games. That is a surprise.
@Bartig same on the other consoles as well. PlayStation Plus games are only available while you have an active sub. I'm sure back in the PS3 era they used to let you keep any PS1 games that were on the service, but not sure what they do now as I don't have a PS4/PS5 and haven't subscribed for years. Switch online also requires an active sub to access the NES/SNES app.
