We've got a lot of demos dropping on Xbox at the moment! The latest is for the upcoming action platformer Balan Wonderworld, which is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox One on March 26th.
This demo allows you to try the entire first chapter of the game completely for free, as well as the first acts of Chapters Four and Six, and you can even unlock an "X Launcher costume" for the main game by playing.
"Balan Wonderworld is a wondrous action platformer game themed around the Balan Theatre. Led by the enigmatic maestro named Balan, the stars of the show Emma and Leo will use special abilities from a multitude of characterful costumes as they adventure in the bizarre and imaginary land of Wonderworld. Here memories and vistas from the real world mix with the things that people hold dear."

Wow, I guessed I’d like it since I loved Sonic and Mario alike, and it seemed to me like a crossover between a team Sonic game and a Mario game. But boy, I am not a fan. In my opinion gameplay feels cluncky, and it looks and animates like a cheap clone in the 1998/2000’s but in hd/4k. It crosses a border in which it doesn’t invite me as an adult. It feels to kiddy, something Banjo, Mario, Crash, Yooka, and even Spyro don’t feel like that. I do like the cutscenes though 😂
If the demo is any indication, this game is going to be awful. It's slow, the jumping feels off, the animation is God awful and I hate the character designs. I'm out.
Tried the demo and it's awful, if you want a good 3d platformer then stick to mario, yooka laylee or super luckys tale

Kind of sad news about this game. The soundtrack sounds fantastic.
Ouch, the demo is really bad, really looks awful with ugly and boring looking levels. And the odd PS1 graphics with HD texture...
And then the clumsy animations, confusing gameplay and boring music. I could go on forever, but honestly, how could this game be getting a go? Might be one of the worst games ever from Square Enix!!! I genuinely hated it.

Come in guys Jeff Keighley said they could have stopped the whole Xbox show after this was announced in the preshow trailers...the best game ever made!
Wasn't on my radar at all but sad to hear it's very poor. Maybe it will improve? Is that a thing where the demo is far off from the finished product?
Q) Have you tried the Balan Wonderworld demo yet?
A) I have just finished trying out the demo (only the first chapter so far) and my thoughts seem to be quite contrasting with others in this comment section. I had a lot of fun with the game. It controls well, I could judge distance easily with it and the game is brimming with charm. Top notch on the sound and graphics.
It is certainly easy and simple but I feel that makes it quite suitable for kids and the cute aesthetic fits well in that regard. I'd say my only nuisance is having to back to the tent to equip costumes in case I lose any; that could easily have been a pause menu feature.
I've preordered the game already so I was really worried given everyone's comments here but I'm glad to find I enjoy the game quite a lot.
