The popular VR game Rec Room has made the leap to Xbox consoles, with its very own Xbox themed room.
The surprise release allows players to virtually hang out in a multitude of player created rooms, and with cross-play support, no friend will be left behind. It’s free to download, so there’s not much to really lose and with the current global situation meaning friends and family haven’t been able to socialise, it’s a wonderful bit of escapism.
There’s also a special WelcomeXbox room, themed with Master Chief artwork, Minecraft dioramas and more. Anyone who visits the room before December 17 will receive a free Space Soldier helmet - modelled after Master Chief - as well as a free round of bubbly for anyone who uses a friend code to invite a buddy. How sweet!
With the holiday period approaching and many people desperate to spend time with loved ones and friends, this could honestly be the next best thing, arriving at the perfect time.

Be interested to see if the fun people have said this game delivers is lost by losing VR.
I've been having a lot of fun playing this on my Quest whilst playing with my Xbox friends. Maybe it's because I was partied up my Xbox friends but I was surprised at how many people didn't seem to be using VR to play.
@aduvky84 my buddy is really into this on Xbox, but he might not be a great measure as he also really loves the various Mii games.
@aduvky84 that's the exact same thought I had. I'd assumed the appeal of the original release was messing around with mates in VR.
No VR required, but hopefully it'll lead into a VR announcement.
Might check it out since I hate VR, but in my experience these social games usually aren't any good unless you got some group of people you are meeting up with.
@aduvky84 I started on screen with the ps4, it was still a blast to play
