Truth be told, we pretty much never engage with the actual Microsoft Store app for Windows. If we're going to play PC games, it's either through the dedicated Xbox PC app, or another storefront like Steam and the Epic Games Store.
However, we came across a post today from MondoXbox that suggested the Microsoft Store app had received a major Xbox overhaul recently, and yeah... we've never seen this before. It's either brand-new, or just relatively new!
As you can see from the images above, the "Gaming" section of the Microsoft Store app features rectangular game cards for each title, which arguably look more visually enticing than what you get on the Xbox PC app.
Here's a comparison (based on the "dark" colour scheme for the Microsoft Store app):
Functionally, it's pretty smooth to navigate, and we like what they're going for here overall. Could it be a sneak peek at what's to come in Project Helix, or is it something that's exclusive to the Microsoft Store app on Windows?
Whatever the case may be, we thought this was a pretty interesting discovery that many Xbox fans probably don't know about, and we're actually now much more tempted to engage with the app and buy games through here!
