Microsoft has revealed more information about Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X pre-orders in the UK, confirming a start time for September 22nd and issuing a list of retailers that will be offering the two devices.
Let's get that start time out of the way - if you want to pre-order your new system as soon as possible, you'll need to be around at 8AM BST on Tuesday, September 22nd. That's the official start time for pre-orders in the UK.
All of the following retailers will be offering the device at that time:
- Microsoft Store
- Amazon
- GAME
- Argos
- Currys PC World
- Smyths Toys
- John Lewis & Partners
- AO.com
- Very.co.uk
- Shopto.net
- SimplyGames
If you want to take advantage of the Xbox All Access offer for the Xbox Series S / X, Microsoft is advertising GAME and Smyths Toys as the only two retailers that will be providing the service in the UK.
No information has been revealed about how much stock will be available for pre-order, but given the high demand for these consoles, we suggest pre-ordering as soon as possible to avoid potentially missing out.
Will you be pre-ordering an Xbox next week? Which retailer will you go with? Let us know below.

Here we go. Hyped ππ₯π
Quick question, in the U.S will the pre orders open at 3.A.M
@AkashTheGod99 No word on the U.S. time as of yet.
Wasn't going to pre-order but contemplating ordering on Very so I can defer the payment for 12 months and just pay for delivery now.
@FraserG thanks
I'm crossing my fingers demand is high enough to sell out in 24 hours but not in 10 minutes. I'm hoping I can get a BestBuy preorder so I can do store curveside pickup, avoid any potential shipping damage.
Think I'll try and get a Series X via All Access.
@Tharsman Hey man! Be aware that should Covid get any worse again we may be forced into a second lockdown. You may not be able to actually pick it up?! π²
@LocalPenguin even at covid panic peak (that I feel we should still be at, but Merica!) BestBuy still offered curbside pickup. Park on spot, can't enter store, but employee in hazmat suit* brings you your stuff.
*hyoerble, they just wearing masks and gloves
I intend to pre-order the Series X as soon as I can - not entirely sure whether to go the All-Access route yet or buy the console outright - I normally prefer to buy outright rather than be locked into a 2yr contract and not 'owning' the product outright for a few years but that deal does look interesting as I don't have Game Pass either and have been considering it.
In any case, I will pre-order the Series X. Unless Sony pull something out of the hat tomorrow to change my mind, I can wait to order one at a later date as I can't justify Β£900 (or thereabouts) on two consoles in the same quarter.
Game UK have never let me down on day one console releases.
Preorder quick and go for delivery to your home, as also Covid could strike again and you wonβt be able to collect.
Good luck one and all.
Just need US times.
@Royalblues US time are tricky because websites are likely going to open their preorders nation-wide instantly, despite there being multiple time zones (6 time zones when you count Alaska and Hawaii.) So, it might be at 8am... but 8am where? Usually its down to East or West coast times.
Imagine a world where they opened preorders months in advance, open for a fixed period of time, so that everyone that wanted to order one in that, 2 or 7 day window could place an order, and then they knew how many to make and have them in place using nice, cheap ocean freight, rather than everyone racing like they're after the last glass of water in a desert and the company frantically shipping by air freight whatever they could crank off the assembly line in time?
Somewhere, some day, a sane world will exist.
Am I right in thinking I dont need the money in my bank when I make the preorder? I'm thinking of using Amazon.
@Tangerine wondering the same thing
@Tangerine i had a ps4 preorder back in the day and it didn't charge me till it shipped. i don't think the policy has changed as anytime i preorder a game i'm not charged till it has shipped as well.
@Tharsman And Iβm on Pacific, so I usually get mauled over in that department :/
@Tangerine Amazon never charges you until the item ships.
@AkashTheGod99 @Beerculies @Jslade
Thanks. That's what I thought but I guess because its 450quid I was concerned there may be a different policy. I preorder games on Amazon uk and yeah they charge just before release, rather than when I put the preorder in.
I'm confident enough thanks to you guys that I can afford to buy 3D all stars now too! Rather than waiting till I get paid. Woo!
PS. Tagging AkashTheGod99 so you see the info you were wondering about same as I was wondering.
"Microsoft is advertising GAME and Smyths Toys as the only two retailers that will be providing the service in the UK"
No they aren't.... To be accurate it's GB, not UK.
I've set myself a reminder; there's absolutely no way I'm missing out on this!
