The first official Xbox Series X cover art designs were unveiled a few weeks ago, and while they generally received a good reception, there was a lot of feedback that the 'optimized for Xbox Series X' logo was too big.
Now, according to a couple of reports, it looks like Microsoft has decided to remove it.
This originated from Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad, who posted a picture of the new design (just a mock-up as he "can't share real unreleased marketing assets"):
Senior Editor at The Verge Tom Warren also quoted this soon after, and definitively stated that "Microsoft is removing the giant Xbox Series X enhanced logo from the front of Xbox game boxes."
However, Warren says that he believes it will now be moved to the back of the box instead, while Ahmad suggests that there will be more subtle mention of it on the back, and it won't be this exact logo.
Again, these are just reports for now, but we'll let you know if we hear anything official from Microsoft.

Woah what about the whole trailer they made out of it?
Nice, that's cool. I'll mostly be buying digitally, so it won't affect me, but it's nice for those who like to collect physical games
Thankfully, it was a little bit unsightly for me. Hopefully they do think of an alternative that does make it clear to consumers though.
Thank you, Microsoft!
Hope the reports are accurate, but for to say, if it was a sticker over the shrink wrap, it would not be that bad.
I feel like the boxes are a little confusing. I know the games work on both consoles but I do feel like series X games should say series X on them in big writing because they just look a lot like Xbox one games.
If it's an Xbox one game with a free upgrade then it should just have Xbox one packaging with that optimised for series X sticker.
Thankfully, Microsoft is listening. That huge logo was an eye sore.
THANK GOD. Thing looked ugly as hell and ruined the art direction for the boxes. Good to see that MS has finally realized this.
Well done Microsoft, it's good to see them acting upon feedback...
They could have just put a sticker on the outside packaging...
It definitely should be on the back side of the box. That is WAY less obtrusive in my opinion.
Yeah, that was a weird idea. Glad they listened to fans.
Good on them for responding to the feedback!
this is a company that really cares about its fans. Like, how easy would it have been to shrug their shoulders and just keep doing the same thing. I know its just a little thing, but when added to all of the other stuff they've been doing with Xbox, I'm really happy Phil Spencer came in and changed the culture at the company.
Super cool. Love physical games and the Rupee was too big, it just ruins the cover, just like the Germany Rating Board do.
Phew! We REALLY dodged a bullet there. And a very ugly one at that...
It didn't bother me personally. What I like about this is that most people didn't like it, so they took it onboard and changed it. Good stuff.
That looks alot better..
