Bandai Namco and Slightly Mad Studios sprung a surprise on us last week with the reveal of Project CARS 3, which is coming to Xbox One this summer. And now, we've also got some raw gameplay to look over.
The video above comes courtesy of GameRiot, and features eight minutes of early Project CARS 3 beta footage. The reception so far has been mixed - some have suggested it looks too arcade-like for Project CARS, although director of production Pete Morrish recently assured Eurogamer that the game's physics engine and simulation under the hood, while not the same as before, is "exactly as sim-focussed as it was before":
"One of the concerns with presenting things as simulation is it can be quite po-faced, it can be quite dry, and we wanted to make it much more friendly, much more supportive, much more democratic, so new players could come along and learn at their own pace and get to the point where we as racing game fans, as simulation fans are. At any point in that continuum from beginner to proper esports racer, you can find your level and find your enjoyment."
Project CARS 3 will feature a brand-new career mode, car customisation including the ability to make your own liveries, a new asynchronous multiplayer Rivals mode, two new tracks and much more. It's now available for pre-order at select retailers, although it hasn't yet gone live on the Microsoft Store.
What do you make of the gameplay footage for Project CARS 3? Let us know in the comments.

Looks a but funky in certain spots but I will still be getting it. Enjoyed the 1st two well enough!
I was gonna get this on PS4, but seeing how I’ve just bought myself a shiny new Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 edition, I’ll be buying it for that now! 60fps shouldn’t be a problem! I hope there are lots of tracks again like previous games - that was one of the things I liked about PC2 - plenty of tracks that rarely/never show up in other racing titles.
