It's been six months since we first got a look at the Xbox Series X. Well, six months and two days.
The console was officially unveiled at The Game Awards 2019 back on December 12, with Xbox head Phil Spencer taking to the stage to unveil that incredible in-engine footage of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, as well as the system's targeted release window of Holiday 2020.
Since then, the Xbox Series X has been revealed in much greater detail, including a breakdown of tech specs and features such as Smart Delivery, Quick Resume and backwards compatibility. And naturally, we've since learned about many more games heading to the next-gen console, with over 50 announced so far.
Now, we're really waiting on two major reveals - Microsoft's huge first-party event in July, which will give us a look at the likes of Halo Infinite and other Xbox Game Studios titles, as well as the announcement of the rumoured Xbox Lockhart, which is expected to be a cheaper next-gen option alongside the Series X. Oh, and the price!
But looking back, the device has come a long way since that initial reveal just six months ago. With any luck, we'll hopefully be playing it for ourselves in another six months' time!
Are you more or less excited for the Xbox Series X than you were six months ago? Let us know below.

Time flies when you're having... a pandemic..?
And it still feels like we know more about the ps5 at this point. Your move Microsoft!
@TheNewButler Yeah all fair points. I think I'm just frustrated that Microsoft has been dripfeeding info. While it was equally frustrating not hearing anything from Sony. That's why I loved e3 week just a massive blowout of everything but I guess that's over now. Okay rant over.
@TheNewButler I agree, I think there's a good chance they could announce a price in July and launch pre-orders immediately after the event.
If they're looking to release in Oct/Nov, I don't think they'll want to wait much longer before announcing this kind of info.
Yea this reveal seemed like it was months ago. Time does fly.
I remember it clearly because I was going through bad bouts of insomnia on and off from November-March this year. I googled Xbox, saw the new console and was like 'wtf!¡¿'. My head couldn't even process it properly due to lack or no sleep.
Doing the reveal in July puts a lot (more) pressure on Microsoft, so i'm INCREDIBLY interested to see what they have. i thought Sony had a pretty good show, not great, but obviously Sony's hardcore fans are losing their minds (a 10th Ratchet and Clank?! holy crap! a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn we 100% knew was going to be in the show?! OHMYGAW! A Sackboy game we know FULL WELL we aren't going to buy??? faint!!!)). Microsoft has an opportunity to get the semi last word here (Sony will have another small show to announce the price and release date, and reveal their version of Game Pass), so if they drop the ball here, it's on them.
