The eighth entry in Sega's long-running Yakuza series has been confirmed by the creator Toshihiro Nagoshi as a "day one" launch title for Xbox Series X. As the headline suggests, it's officially titled Yakuza: Like A Dragon and was originally released on the PlayStation 4 in Japan at the start of this year.
As the player, you'll take control of Ichiban Kasuga - a low-ranking yakuza grunt left on the brink of death by a man he put all his trust in. It's now time to grab your bat and crack some underworld skulls - and perhaps even some lobster - in this dynamic RPG combat-driven game set against the backdrop of modern-day Japan.
Is this a title you'll be booting up on day one? Tell us below.

So many Yakuza games!
One day I'm gonna catch up with this series. One day.
I've played some Yakuza, it's pretty good. Surprised to see it's a launch title, MS deserves credit for getting Sega on board.
Two Yakuza title's are on Gamepass, I really should try rhem out.... Isn't it quite similar to Shenmue???
@BANJO A bit. Shenmue is much heavier on the simulation stuff, though, whereas Yakuza is more an RPG brawler with a bunch of side-quests and mini-games.
Or, in the case of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, just a straight up JRPG.
Said it before but it's great to see MS getting serious about Japanese games again and having Sega on board in a big way is even better. Yakuza is one of my favorite series, this was the best news out of today's Inside Xbox.
Man, Yakuza is really trying to branch out. That’s good and I highly recommend this series.
@Ralizah Thanks for the overview, I think I will have to try one of them out shortly....
the more I hear about the Yakuza series the more I want to give it a try. There's two of them on Gamepass but I don't know which one to play first. lol
Cool! I still need to play these games!
@ThePrettySenshi Start with 0 as it's the first one chronologically and then go from there.
One of the very few home runs amidst an absolutely dire Inside Xbox. Great to see Sega back on board for launch and I hope that more Japanese content is coming down the pipeline.
@Alpha-2002
We saw a very different Inside Xbox, you and I. 😕
@gingataisen Give 0 a chance through Game Pass. It's impossible to explain without playing it... but once you do, I guarantee that you'll fall in love. And even if you don't, it's still one hell of a ride that's at the very least worth trying.
@BANJO Do, my man. You won't regret it.
@Alpha-2002
I already did, and yes, it's a life-changing experience. I was responding to your second comment. 😂
@gingataisen
lol. It wasn't that bad. I had a lot of fun watching it too, and that's with many of the games (shooting, cars) not being genres I'm interested in at all.
@Alpha-2002
Thank you!! I'm starting to download it right now.
