According to a new report, source code for the original Xbox has leaked online. This was revealed by website The Verge, which confirmed that the leaked Xbox OS was genuine.
The leak is said to include the kernel for the console's operating system, which was a custom version of Windows 2000. It also apparently includes internal documents, the Xbox Development Kit, some build environments and more, although The Verge understands some enthusiasts already had access to this kernel and source code privately.
In a statement to the website, Microsoft revealed that it's looking into the matter:
“We’re aware of these reports and are investigating”
Additionally, source code for a near-final build of Windows NT 3.5 has also reportedly leaked online. It apparently includes "all the necessary build tools" for the dated operating system.

I've read they also created an open source OG Xbox Live alternative, called Insigna!
But I don't know if it's related to this news!
Found just yesterday!
I'll he keeping my eye one this for sure. Microsoft either need to bring this feature back themselves or fans will do it. Either way, I'm good with this. I literally bought my OG xbox a month after the shutdown and didn't get to go online with it
Well this just means we will be seeing Xbox Emulators here soon.
Interesting. Would love a proper Xbox emulator that worked well. It's been long enough imo
