Update: (Tue 14th Apr, 2020 17:55 BST): Following this story, the official Xbox Twitter account replied to the tweet by stating, "this is not a drill!". And earlier today, the Crysis account tweeted again:
Original Story: (Mon 13th Apr, 2020 19:00 BST): Up until a few hours ago, the last tweet posted by the official Crysis Twitter account was on December 13th, 2016. However, the account has suddenly sprung back into life, putting out a cryptic tweet with the words "RECEIVING DATA", leading to speculation that a new Crysis title is on the way.
It's been a few years since we last saw a Crysis game on Xbox, with the most recent title in the franchise debuting back in 2013 for Xbox 360. It's anyone's guess as what the series has planned next - perhaps a remastered collection (as suggested by sister site Push Square), or maybe Crysis 4? We'll have to wait and see.
What do you think the tweet means, and what Crysis game would you like to see next? Let us know below.

Calling it now - Crysis will be the next Anthem from EA.
The last time Crysis appeared on an Xbox platform was when the entire trilogy was made backwards compatible on Xbox One. On point though, I think this might be the Crysis games getting remastered. 😍
OR.....
“Receiving data.....Microsoft is buying us.”
All jokes aside, I would love to see more Crysis games!
@KelticDevil
If true, t'would be reserved for the E3 digital event. 😉
@gingataisen
Agreed.
Love Crysis, but would love if MS bought Ryse Son of Rome IP from Crytek and then hired them to make a follow up game .
@Kmcroc5472
I agree. If I were Microsoft, I would buy Crytek & People Can Fly immediately.
That way, we would get a Ryse sequel, own the Crysis franchise, and let People Can Fly work on whatever they want.
@KelticDevil best part think both are very affordable and would love to follow up games on series X
A remastered trilogy - YES PLEASE!!! with Crysis 4 coming soon too I can hope....
@Kmcroc5472
And those are realistic purchases. I always hate it when people say that Microsoft will buy Bethesda or EA. Or some other gigantic publisher. I actually don’t want that. That would screw up the whole balance of the industry.
Just like Sony buying Insomniac, or Microsoft buying Playground Games, the two studios I brought up just make sense. And it wouldn’t piss too many gamers off.
@KelticDevil the Insomniac & PlayGround Games purchases don't bother me . Both have only made games for platforms that purchased them . Now a EA, Activision, T2, CDPR , Ubisoft a purchase of them would definitely hurt the industry. As for PCF & Crytek being bought by MS would be wild .
@Kmcroc5472
Exactly! Even when Xbox fans were pumping off to rumors of Microsoft buying Bethesda, I was like “Noooooo!” Lol.
But in all seriousness, if Microsoft bought out a huge publisher, it would unbalance the whole industry & that would suck for everyone.
For us, as gamers, to be happy we need competition. And if either Microsoft or Sony get too cocky, then we are all screwed. We’ve seen that before & it sucks on both sides.
True , I remember all that . Seriously now that i think about it what IPs does Bethesda own that would have been worth such a purchase. 😂
Really enjoyed Crysis and Crysis 2. The third not so much....
I hope xbox series X can run crisis.
I was thinking of Crysis via BC... but maybe I'll wait a remastered!
I’ve never played any of these games, but I still remember my first time seeing the original game. As somebody who was never a hardcore PC gamer, out side of sim games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, for the first time I envied PC gamers. It was such a beautiful game. This article made me look the game up. Still looks amazing!
Wonder if MLB is going to make sure parity is equal, seeing how they are Publisher of the Xbox version.
