It just wouldn't be Christmas without massive discounts across the Xbox One and Xbox 360 digital stores. Microsoft has begun promoting such a thing on its official Xbox website that will kick off on December 22nd and run through until January 7th, 2016.
It's called the "Countdown" sale and — according to Microsoft — will be the "biggest digital game sale ever." Do tell, Microsoft. Do tell.
While there isn't any word as to which titles will get their prices slashed, Microsoft is promising discounts of 40 to 60 per cent off, with Gold members receiving an additional 10 per cent more. There will be over 200 deals offered throughout its run, with some sales occurring daily and weekly.
Of course, like we've done in the past here at Pure Xbox, we'll do our best on keeping everyone updated on all sales as they happen.

I already got $ in my Xbox Live acct. ready for this.
I am hoping I can clean up on some XBLA 360 games I missed for cheap. And any DLC I missed would be welcome, as well.
Bring on the deals!
I'm skeptical that it will be biggest, but I'll be happy to take a look regardless.
Its annual sale. I guess it could be MS's biggest ever as the XB1 now has a library of games as well as the amount of games on the 360 but I doubt it will have the biggest discounts ever - depending on how you read it of course. Either way I doubt I will be tempted by anything. Digital sale price rarely if ever beat the average current price of disc copies and I prefer physical copies anyway.
I will be keeping an eye out for some great deals though I already have a ton to play so the deal would have to be pretty darn good to make me bite.
I hope I'm able to complete my purchases this time around. I missed bioshock 2 and infinite. Xbox.com wasn't cooperating. For days... And I do not own a 360. I kept getting error messages. ..straight bummer
Looking forward to it... do love that feeling you get when you pick something good up on a whim 'cos it's cheap in the sales and it turns out to be great
Well Microsoft screwed me on their 12 days of Christmas deal when Battlefront and Black Ops III were $29.99.
I woke up at 6am EST and they were both sold out, then at 7am they sent me an email telling me not to miss out on the deal. WTF Microsoft?
Dlc spree I think.
More deals? Wow
This proving yet again why I have been buying more games for my Xbox One than my PC or PS4 (lacking in any good first party games). In fact i haven't even played either of them for almost 2 months because i'm to busy playing on my XB1.
@freaksloan That'll be because the stock situation is always fluid but the newsletters/email blasts are set up to fire at a specific time.
Happened to me with a number of retailers this week, sadly. "Come get This Thing! It's cheap!" "Awesome!" "This Thing is sold out!"
