We've got another addition to our list of new Xbox Game Pass titles that are available today! It's been announced as part of Gamescom 2025 that The Rogue Prince of Persia will be coming to the service over the next few hours.
This game first launched back in May of last year (and it's still in early access on Steam), where it has a Very Positive rating as things stand. It's a 2D action-platformer roguelite that combines the beloved combat from the core PoP series and throws it into a fast-paced adventure - apparently with great success!
Look out for The Rogue Prince of Persia on Xbox Game Pass later today. We'll throw more details about the game along with some screenshots from the PC version down below.
The Rogue Prince of Persia is an action-platformer roguelite that takes the iconic wall-run and acrobatic combat from the beloved Prince of Persia series and crams it into a juicy, fast-paced, βjust one more runβ adventure by Evil Empire β a studio that cut its teeth working on post-launch content for one of the most acclaimed action roguelites out there.
Flow seamlessly between platforming and combat, using your acrobatic skill to outmaneuver and outsmart your enemies. Run on the walls to open new routes of attack, avoid traps and explore hard to reach areas, or chain it with kicks, dodges and stomps to fight through swathes of enemies without a scratch.

Two shadowdrops - both this and Triangle Strategy - is pretty awesome
Nice!
@FraserG So is this under "Game Preview" on Xbox or did it actually launch in 1.0 while still on Early Access on Steam?
I've been waiting for this one for a long time. Looks amazing. Gonna try it once I'm at home.
This is good cos I've loved pop since early nineties but I'm old so I'm confused about what roguelike / roguelite genres are...are they just buzzwords for "insanely difficult" and "massively frustraing"
@G1lbo
It just means (generally) that once you die you start from the beginning being more powerful than last time.
Normally the aren't that long.
@G1lbo No. Insanely difficult and massively frustrating would be considered "Souls Like". Rogue Lite means you will die, but every time you come back, you come back stronger based on power options you choose.
@Nighto4 I believe version 1.0 is launching today.
Uh, nice. It's looking good. If it's not a 100hrs time sink, I may bite.
I watched this being presented in the Xbox show and it actually appeals to me even though I don't usually play side-scrolling games. I might actually bite, but I'm also interested in Triangle Strategy, which is again an art style that does not appeal to me (which is why I have not played Octopath or Final Fantasy Tactics), yet it does look pretty decent.
Choices, choices, so many choices... π
@fbnaulin
It's like 4 hours long according to HowLongToBeat, although that's probably the early access version. This one might be a bit longer.
I need to get back to the Lost Crown. As with many of these kind of titles, I got stuck somewhere and dropped off.
@kmtrain83
Same here. These games are so tempting and are good fun in the beginning but after an hour or so , after the 50th missed run - slide - parry - slide - jump and so on and so on section I get frustrated and never touch the game again.
It's on GP so I will try it either way (and what a great service this continues to be) but damn, that look so fast paced...
I think the rumors for UbiSoft sending AC and PoP to Gamepass have come true. The other one for latest the Crew game, Star Wars and Avatar game will happen soonβ¦.
@AlwaysPlaying Now if they could just support Xbox Play Anywhere, or at least native PC versions on the MS store and stop making us use their proprietary launcher π.
Was playing this last night and couldn't stop π¬ what a great game, loved it. I can see me playing this for some time.
Its also added to ps plus, so theres a choice of where to play if you have both. It would be rude not try it! π
