Topic: Series X Disc Drive Replacement

Hey all! Quick question: Can anybody recommend a good replacement for a Series X disc drive?

Mine recently crapped out and I’m hearing mixed things on the internet in terms of what is and is not compatible. On top of that, Microsoft wants $299.99 to do the repair, which I’d rather not pay if I don’t have to.

Just to replace the disc drive? That's 60% of the MSRP! Why so much?

@Ricardo_Aguilar They said it was because if something were to go wrong with the repair for any reason, they’d replace it with a brand new Series X. That’s how they justify charging an arm and a leg for the repair.😂

That's abusive. "...if something were to go wrong with the repair for any reason", it's on them. They shouldn't have to charge you for their incompetence. 🤦‍♂️
