Hello Everybody I was wondering if you could help with my issue, like many others I received my new series x which I’m very excited about but unfortunately I’ve ran into a small issue which is really annoying. My tv is 4K and runs at 60Hz but obviously the Xbox can run faster, I’m completely ok with only running at 60Hz but when I load up or out of games I briefly get a black screen and my tv resolution settings appear in the top right. (3840x2160/60Hz(HDR)(PQ)

Even if I change my resolution to 1080p the small pause and black screen takes place... I’ve tried everything but just want rid of this issue
Any help would be amazing as I’m stumped
Many thanks
Bailey

Thank you for your reply! So there’s nothing I can do? It’s something I could live with but the 5-6 seconds of a black screen every time I go to the home menu is kind of annoying :/

@Bayzz_97 Its more likely to be the TV - the Dashboard isn't in HDR so it maybe forcing the TV to switch over to a HDR and back to an SDR mode for example and if the TV takes a few seconds to do this, then there is nothing you can do about it.

Its difficult to know exactly without knowing all the settings, the make/model of the TV and seeing everything first hand but it sounds like a TV issue to me...

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

That’s my assumption but I can’t find anywhere to sort it... is there any info I can give regarding my tv which would help?
Many thanks

As all the others have said, that's normal. It's the display switching into and out of HDR mode. PS4 Pro did the same as well. I believe I've heard the PS5 runs with the UI in HDR mode, so without having to switch back and forth, so for HDR games it won't have that switchover issue. But, ironically, it just reverses the problem, and if launching a non-HDR game, it will still have this result (Ironically XSX is the only one that could totally avoid the switchover since it has AutoHDR for BC games, if they added HDR to the UI, it would be the only console that never has to drop out of HDR no matter what you play.)

But generally, yeah, all the consoles need to switch from HDR to non HDR mode at times, and it seems all TVs have a black screen delay when switching. It's just the normal behavior for the HDR feature.
