Is anyone a tomb raider fan, have you played, "Shadow of the Tomb Raider". Is it as good as the very first tomb raider released years ago.

My local Sam’s Club discounted their stock of Series X consoles. They only sell the digital Series X, but it’s currently $500.

Are they gearing up to drop it like Costco or perhaps they’re just preparing for Christmas.

Update: no stock for weeks

I was told by customer service they have no plans to restock soon, but they weren’t 100% sure

Tomb Raider (2013) is a more traditional game and it does some cool things with the bow and upgrading weapons. It's entertaining to complete 100% and not huge.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is, in my opinion, the best modern Tomb Raider game. It's extremely polished, with smooth and camera controls (unlike some Uncharted games), balanced gameplay, beautiful graphics and amazing DLC (included in the Xbox version). It's a big game, but not overwhelming and full of cool environments and tombs. It's a masterpiece.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider, developed by another team, introduces some gameplay mechanics related to stealth and it's also beautiful, but the gameplay is rougher and progressing is more confusing.

They are cheap and often discounted, so it's difficult not to recommend all of them.

@Ninfan I'd say the whole trilogy is very good and well worth buying - especially as they are 'cheap' now (compared to launch when I bought). Its a Trilogy I've played on both Xbox and Playstation as I enjoyed completing everything. I think the 3rd (Shadow) is probably the best looking, but maybe not quite as engaging as the 2nd. The first is superb but I also think it holds more weight just because I was not expecting that from a Tomb Raider game and being 'fresh' at the time, had a bigger impact. By the time Shadow released, expectation was higher and it wasn't quite as 'fresh' feeling - but I ultimately completed 'everything' inc all DLC twice.

I wouldn't say the third is terrible, even if it didn't quite live up to the expectation set by its Predecessors, I would likely say they are all within a 'similar' ball park if I was to give a review score. They'd all be in that 8-9/10 range.

Of course everyone is different and will have their own opinion about this game, but I'd certainly recommend it - especially if you enjoyed the first/second as it does continue the story...

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
