Topic: Elite Controller Worth It?

Hi, I’m thinking about getting the Elite Series 2 Core controller, as I understand it lacks the share button so not sure how that works, but is it worth it? I’ve read a lot of reliability issues with it? I’m worried about getting one and it breaking constantly.

I’m not fussed about getting the full kit and can just buy paddles of Amazon if I want them.

@S1ayeR74 All I can say is that I have the V2 Elite that I pre-ordered as soon as it was announced and use it 'exclusively' for all gaming on Xbox/PC. It has 'never' let me down, still feels like 'Brand New' and the battery life is still superb. That's at least 3yrs, maybe more of use - although it is the 'original' complete pack, not the 'Core'

I cannot tell you it is worth it for you, I don't know you, your financial situation, your 'expectations' for that cost etc etc. Some may say its not worth it as their 'standard' controller does much of the same thing and its not worth paying that much for trigger stops as I doubt you'll be changing the thumbstick tension or using the Profile option - especially without Paddles.

All I can say is that I think its the 'best' controller on the market, at least as far as 'official' and/or 'Pro' style controllers go. It feels solid, well made - better than Scuf, more 'premium' feeling than DS5/XSX controllers and has 'excellent' battery life - especially compared to Sony's controllers. Whether you think its worth the 'extra' though is something only you can decide...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

@BAMozzy Thanks for the reply, in terms of is it worth it, I didn’t mean in monetary terms, but in its features and reliability. You’ve answered those.
Are the rumble motors good? On my XSX co troller they tend to make a bit of racket and vibrate the controller plastic, they don’t feel solid but a bit cheap if you know what I mean?

Also how does the screen capture feature work? If it doesn’t have the button for it.

@S1ayeR74 To me, the controller feels more 'solid', more Robust and durable - its the 'best', most 'solid' built controller I have held in my hands. I don't notice any 'racket' when the motors vibrate the controller, certainly not when in my hands but its never going to be 'silent' because that's basically impossible outside of a vacuum. As for 'Screen Capture', I assume it's the exact same way you'd use an XB1 era controller. It's not something I care about at all or ever use, but I know its still possible without a 'Share' button.

I'm sure you could probably allocate a paddle or button just to share if you really want as part of your 'custom' profile layout so you don't 'miss out' on a dedicated Share button. It's not as if you can't completely change the functionality of buttons, paddles etc - perhaps a 'reason' to invest in the Complete pack instead of just the Core as you get ALL the accessories. Even f you just use 1 paddle as the 'Share' button, you have gained 'something' the Core on its own couldn't.

I mostly agree with @BAMozzy it’s an amazing controller with excellent battery life. If money is no concern, I say go for it. But a word of caution, buy it from somewhere you can easily replace it.

Quality check, at least in the past, have been terrible. I have exchanged mine no less than 5 times due to stick drift and RB issues.

I got two, the original and a Core white one. Never had to replace the Core controller (yet).

@Relygon I agree about buying from a reputable source - although I do believe MS has a great warranty on their Controllers and seem pretty good at replacing 'faulty' items.

I had the Original Elite - in fact I went through 2 of those in the few years between V1 and V2 releases - both versions I got on Day 1 after 'pre-ordering'. The OG Elite had a major problem with the grips coming unstuck and peeling. However, what finally killed my OG was the RB ''bar' broke so made it unfunctional. My second OG was and still is operational - its my 'back-up' right now, but the grips are not secure. I am still using the same V2 I have been using since Day 1 of launch, still 'feels' solid, never had any issues of Stick Drift (something that drove me crazy in the first few years of the XB1/PS4 era as I bought controller after controller after controller that ALL drift issues or other thumbstick related problems on both platforms. Since I bought the Elite, I have not had issues at all relating to thumbsticks. Of course, it could happen, but I can only speak of my own personal experience and so far, its been the 'best' controller I have owned.

It would be a birthday present, and I don’t fa ch asking for it if I have to return it 5 times to get one test works properly! I only need the Core model, I can buy any paddles I want off Amazon for cheap. That’ll come, don’t really care about different length sticks. But the bump stops will come in handy for COD.
