Topic: Should I get GamePass?

I regularly Game on Switch but have a PC which isn't used for gaming. (It's only a few years old)

I've already customised an XB Control Pad via its site but haven't bought it yet.

I've never had an X-Box of any kind before...

@BlueGBAMicro the only one who can decide is yourself - whether it offers 'you' enough value for it it to be worthwhile or not.

As for the PC, again it depends on specs as you may need to rely on 'Cloud' gaming to play some games if its not good enough to run games locally - but you can also play on mobiles or any other compatible device.

Game Pass comes as a 'platform' specific option (Cloud, PC or Console versions) or Game Pass Ultimate which gives you all 3 and additional perks so you can access Game Pass games on ANY compatible device.

No-one can really answer the question for you as its very dependent on you and whether or not you will get enough value from it. Its not difficult to get your money's worth every month, but if you rarely, if ever, play on PC, you may find its an expense you can do without...

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

@BlueGBAMicro like @BAMozzy mentioned is really up to you. What can I say is that I have subscribed to game pass last year on PC even though I never owned a Xbox either. Is a great deal if you have a wide taste of games and tend to complete/play at least a game a month. For instance if you missed mass effect and dragon age back in the day you already have month's of content just for you at the click of a button, same for elders scroll or fallout but also a lot of great indies (many maybe you played already on switch like hollow knight or Hades), etc..

If you do get gamepass, stack 36 months(max. limit) of xbox live first, then convert it all for $1. Boom, 3yrs of gamepass ultimate.
FYI
If you get 3mo of xbox live, you can get a free month for turning on auto-pay recur. 4mo for the price of 3. Now, turn it off and redeem another 3mo, turn on auto-pay and get another month. Repeat ad nauseam. I got a year of xbox live gold for the price of three 3mo cards.
FYI Again
You can find 3mo xbox live cards for $7 or less. Today I got 14mo of gamepass ultimate for less than $20, because I also used my microsoft reward points.

Okay...rant over.

@PhhhCough ...Yeah, this sounds far too confusing.

I'll stick to my Switch...

@BlueGBAMicro You could always sign up for a month and give it a go. There's an introductory price of about a Pound for you to give it a try.

You could see how it works with your current setup and if it's not for you, just disable auto-renew and let it lapse after the first month. At the very least, a pound to see if its worthwhile or not is an easy enough amount to spare.

@alpacatears The problem is, it would cost more than a pound as I'd have to buy a Control Pad.

If you have a Switch Pro controller you can use it. Works natively with Steam AFAIK, but not officially supported by MS for Game Pass, but there is software available that essentially re-maps as a generic X-input controller which would work.

Could pick up a cheap 3rd party Xbox controller or even something like an 8bitdo controller - on the SN30 Pro you can change the mode on those to use on Switch, PC etc. so if you don't keep subbing to Game Pass, you'll have an extra controller for Switch (with a far superior D-pad that joy-cons/pro controller)
