Topic: OG Xbox Recommendations

I've never had an original Xbox before but I picked one up today that was a real bargain. I know nothing about the system itself so I'm asking for your recommendations!

It came with:
Project Gotham 1 & 2
Colin McRae 04
F1 2002
Forza
Psi-Ops (broken but is it good?)

I know of Halo 1 & 2 and that's about it so any help would be great. I think I'm set for racing games unless there are any must haves!

Thanks ☺️

Some good games are:
Destroy All Humans
Psychonauts
Dead to Rights
Fuzion Frenzy
Splinter Cell
Ninja Gaiden
That's what I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure someone else will recommend plenty of others. Have fun!

Definitely check out Jade Empire. It's made by BioWare and it's basically Mass Effect in a medieval Asian setting. Great game!

I second this. One of the best Xbox Original games on the system. It's a shame they never did a sequel. Also check out Knights of the Old Republic.

Elder Scrolls 3 is still very good game. And I have to second Jade Empire and Knights of the Old Rebublic. Panzer Dragoon Orta and Fable. Xbox has very solid library of games.

Thanks to everyone so far! Jade Empire is looking very likely as is Star Wars, Fable and Elder Scrolls. I love an RPG so this will definitely be a great start!

@Justifier totally agree on Kotor and Fable!

Jet Set Radio Future is a classic, would totally recommend it for the music and style alone, but it’s also just fun. Where has this series gone? I’d also recommend Crimson Skies as a fun arcade-y dogfight flying summer with plenty of personality.

VERY late to this discussion, but Psi-Ops is very good. Doesn't get the recognition it deserves, for my money. It's a shame your copy arrived broken

Looking over my shoulder at my shelves, some quick recommendations would be Def Jam: Fight for NY, Burnout, Burnout 2, Burnout 3: Takedown, GTA 3/Vice City, Jade Empire, Kung Fu Chaos, Outrun 2, Project Zero, Project Zero 2, Crazy Taxi 3, SSX Tricky, TimeSplitters 2, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, Star Wars: KOTOR, and Star Wars: Battlefront II.

And I'll second JSRF for sure!

Black is a great shooter, challenging too in places.

I will try not to repeat some of the great games above but if your into racing games try out Rallisport Challenge 2 and Outrun 2. If your more into bike racing then play Moto Gp 3 Ultimate Racing Technology for me its one of the best bike racers period. All of of the above are great racers.

I would also try out Otogi and Otogi 2 if you can get your hands on them. The majority of the Star Wars games are top notch too especially Battlefront 1 and 2 as well as Republic commando.

@crippyd I agree, it's absolutely awesome! I finished Black via BC on XOne and, holy moly, what a fantastic game Yes, the enemy AI is not great but it's an arcade shooter, mindless and furious!
Also, great voice acting!

Just throwing this question out there: is Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War on original Xbox any good? I tend to follow an online store that sells used games and I saw this pop up, which is the first time I've ever seen it on the store. It's going for €20 and it seems like a decent price for a shooter, but considering this is an OG Xbox shooter, I'm a bit hesitant if it's worth buying or not.

Ultimate Spider-Man

The best Activision Spider-Man game

If you can't get Spider-Man on PS4 or PS5 it's the next best thing

@TheFrenchiestFry I have never played that one but will surely look into it. I remember seeing it at stores back in the day but didn't have much money to spend on games back then. Just had a kid and had Spider-man 2 for my Spider-man fix back then. I wonder if it's backwards compatible.

@LtSarge Yes, absolutely. It's probably one of the best fps'es on the OG Xbox besides Halo. Great story, great atmosphere and soundtrack and the single player campaign is really solid. It serves as both a remake and a reboot for the series, as mentioned on the Wiki page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein
So, it's basically a prequel to all the later games, making it an interesting and well-worth getting title in the series. Still holds up pretty well, even today, so for that price, I'd say it's basically a no-brainer.

@jsw-8 If you ever visit this thread again, be sure to look at all the recommendations starting from comment #7. On top of all that, I'd like to recommend the following:

Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
Stubbs the Zombie
Darkwatch
Battle Engine Aquila
Max Payne 1 & 2
Amped 1 & 2
Project Snowblind
Deathrow
Mech Assault 1 & 2
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
Genma Onimusha
Pariah
Advent Rising
Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War
Quantum Redshift
Doom 3 & Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil
Conker Live & Reloaded
Bruteforce
Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith
Shenmue 2
Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Red Dead Revolver
Dead Man's Hand
Breakdown
Armed and Dangerous
Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders
Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey
True Crime: Streets of L.A.
Dead or Alive Ultimate 1 & 2
Dead or Alive 3
Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter
Driver 3
Headhunter Redemption
Midway Arcade Treasures 3

And if you like games based upon movies or TV shows (and it'll depend on your age if you know any of these), then you might also want to look into these:

Alias
Dark Angel
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Blade
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Van Helsing

Of course, and perhaps needless to say, whether you'll like any of these obviously depends on if you like the specific type of game in the first place, but they are all good games in their own right. I guess you'll have to look up some YouTube videos to see what they're like...

Far as that is concerned, I can heartily recommend the CGR (Classic Game Room) videos and 80s Comics videos. The latter is actually also from the original founder of CGR, so the videos are all in the same vein, and all videos can now be found on the 80s Comics YouTube channel.

Here you go, just browse through the playlists and you'll find plenty of the games mentioned in this thread here by me and others:

Here's a couple of their Xbox-related videos of some of my personal favorites:

@LtSarge I agree with ThanosReXX RtCW is a great game on the OG Xbox. If you have played the recent Wolfenstein The Old Blood the story will seem familiar as Old Blood is sort of a remake and borrows heavy from the story of RtCW.

But still it's one of the best games in the Wolfenstein series.
