Title is pretty self explanatory. Since many of us have multiple consoles, here you can discuss what you've been playing or are looking forward to on Switch.
As for myself, after what had to have been 40-50 attempts, I beat the final boss in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD this morning!
I'm gonna play around with the not so secret unlockable character, Sonic, and try my hand at completing the post game world(s) before I put it down.
@KratosMD Same here. I really loved the 3DS and even Wii U and its backwards compatibility but Switch is not making me feel particularly excited, not the hardware and not the software. Even Super Mario Odyssey was a letdown for me and, believe me, I was the biggest Mario fanboy ever. I don't think that it's because I'm not a child anymore because I loved (and still do) Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine and I was a teenager in 2002. I also prefer older Mario Kart and The Legend of Zelda games and Animal Crossing New Leaf is enough Animal Crossing for me. I don't want to pay premium for yet more of it. That said, I play Asphalt 9 on Switch casually.
I wouldn't change playing games on Xbox One X for playing games on Switch and Switch games are more expensive anyways and there's no Game Pass on there except for... NES and SNES games but I have a SNES Classic Mini and I don't care about NES. In short, Switch is my least-used console ever. True fact.
@KratosMD@BlueOcean weirdly I think I play all 3 platforms equally now somehow! I think I have alot of PS4 games that I wish I didn't buy (and not play) because now I'd have an Xbox I'd rather play them on that. That being said, my back log spans all 3 (not to mention my Wii u, PS3 and even my Wii lol) so I normally play whatever I feel like on the day though I do log into my switch daily to er, train my brain.
@RR529 Last switch game I "finished" was the story mode in power rangers battle for the grid. I might still do the arcade ladders, I did the ladders for 3 characters when the game first came out but thought I'd wait for the developer to more or less finish the game before I returned to it.
I was thinking about getting DMC 2 or finally trying out the RE series with the Origins Collection as my next game, but with everything that's going on in the world I really don't fancy playing anything particularly dark at the moment.
Maybe I'll grab a JRPG or finally see what all the fuss is about regarding Animal Crossing instead.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I’m glad I went for the Lite model and saved money. Multiplats are better and cheaper on Xbox and I’ve only got one switch cart which was what I got with the system.
It’s nice to pick up and play for convenience, but it’s not the comfiest thing to play on for extended periods of time. The Wii U gamepad (which essentially is the same thing) was much more ergonomical.
If I play Doom 64 for a bit and then plug in a controller the difference is night and day in terms of comfort.
I’ve only been buying the odd game when it’s cheap, the only one I sprung for was a download of mega drive collection, as there were some games not on the mini console and It was my first console back in 93.
@RR529 funny, my current play through of re revelations is actually taking my mind off it! Probably because it's a similar theme but is totally farcical (in comparison to the real world at least).
I was thinking of getting revelations 2 on switch while it's still in the sale as I've never played it. Not sure whether to jump on the original remake and 0 while their £4 on ps store, I never really got on with the original games back in the day. (I've only played revelations, 4 and about half of 5 before)
@ralphdibny, yeah, I can get that train of thought (after all, games like Plague Inc., which hit even closer to home in terms of theming, only grew in popularity after the outbreak, so you're not alone in that), it's just not the approach for me.
And with that I caved in and ordered Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which will be my first in the series.

@RR529 nah of course not! Everybody is different and handles things differently. Animal crossing should be a nice diversion from real life for sure.
I haven't played any main animal crossing games, only the mobile version and it was an addictive time sink for a good couple of years. I have got too much in the back log to even consider the new one I think. maybe one day though...
Likewise though, I caved and downloaded re revelations 2 on switch!
@ralphdibny I recommend the HD re-releases of Resi 1 and 0. I still have them on GameCube and with the HD treatment they look fantastic (they already did) and now you can do away with the tank controls and control it much more like more modern survival horror games like dead space (except for the fixed camera angles).
@Gamecuber oh really. The tank controls were one of the things putting me off. Do you happen to know if they did away with them in the code veronica remaster and the re2 remake too? The other thing that I found a nightmare back in the day was the finite typewriter tape. Should I save, shouldn't I save... So stressful!
Not sure about Code Veronica. I have it on PS2 and GameCube (I think I’ve got the 360 version, not sure) and they were still tank controls.
Resi 2 remake controls over the shoulder like a cross between Resi 4 and dead space. They’ve swapped the balance between action and puzzle to emphasise action. It is a superb remake, just as the GameCube/HD versions are great remakes of the original game.
I think you can do away with typewriter ribbons in the remasters too. Just save at any typewriter.
I did get Animal Crossing, which is my first one. I only got it because of the current world climate and if I can physically visit my friends at least I can virtually visit...
It’s cute; I don’t get the hype though. But then I don’t really bond with life sim games...
Sometime I replay the Resident Evil games. Last year 0 and 1 without knowing about this new virus. I just beat 2 Remake with both characters which I really recommend and now I'll play Code Veronica. Everything on Xbox and in chronological order. On Switch I just play Asphalt 9 and Mario + Rabbids and not interested in more Animal Crossing.
@Gamecuber@BlueOcean nice, maybe I'll finally give the series a proper go. Resi 4 is actually one of my favourite games which is weird cos I've only completed one other game in the series
@ralphdibny The only game that still has mandatory tank controls is Code Veronica (this generation is only available on Xbox via backwards compatibility). 0 and 1 remakes have the original and the new controls. I really hope that Capcom remakes Code Veronica because it's one of the finest games, the story is really fascinating.
@BlueOcean nice one cheers will probably get them on ps4, might wait for CVX to be on a better sale though because I guess I wouldn't play it until RE2make gets a significant physical sale (I'm not knocking it's current price which is about £20, just that it's not a priority for me at that price).
On topic though, I've been doing my daily brain training...not the most exciting switch game to play tbh! My scores gradually go up in all the training including maths which I'm surprised about but I just always get bottom scores in word scramble. I'm just rubbish at it and can't get any better! I'd be rubbish as a contestant on countdown!
