Yeah Gravity is a great film, 3D effects were some of the best I've seen in ages too, really added a lot to the film rather than just being a gimmick.

@stylon I just watched it in 2d as I don't have or want 3d. I think that on the big screen that it would have been a very different experience.

Another film done, Guardians of the Galaxy, another Marvel success! Very much enjoyed it at the cinema and it's lost nothing when viewed at home. Another good recommendation especially if you're into comics and action films.

I love quirky Wes Anderson films. 'A Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou' is one of my all time favourites. Then I love 'Hero' and 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' – they're both gorgeous. 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' is brilliant. Oh, and the Burton Batman films. Those were the days.

And 'Pacific Rim'; awesome! I want to be a Jäger pilot.

Emma "Tito" - the Swankee speaking Swede and quirky blonde.

I got a copy of that for free but I haven't watched it yet. Was going to but then I saw it was 2 hours and 40 minutes long and I just couldn't commit to that

Is it really?! Watching it, I would have said more like an hour 45 to two. I just got into the movie and the time just flew over.

Watched Guardians a couple of nights ago. Went into it knowing nothing about the series at all. Have to say it's got to be one of the most "fun" movies I've seen in years - it definitely doesn't take itself too seriously but is all the better for it. Has some great music in it too... Can't wait for the next one!

As it hasn't been mentioned... Memento, one of Christoper Nolan's earlier films.

Story of a man who can't make new memories searching for his wife's killer, with a narrative structure that replicates how he experiences the world... basically the story is told back to front.

That may not sound very appealing but it's a corker.

Such a great film! I've likely seen it a dozen times with different folks.

Just watched Edge of Tomorrow, another cracking film! A good action/sci-fi film and good story. It's a mix of Groundhog Day, Terminator and Saving Private Ryan and a good watch.

I really enjoyed this one at the cinema, the whole crowd was laughing like crazy every time Cruise gets smoked.

Yeah, the comedy is good too. My wife and I were laughing hard at some of the deaths, particularly the time he gets ran over and the noise he makes

Another movie done, Transformers age of extinction. Despite the terrible reviews it got I enjoyed it. It is just Michael Bay blowing stuff up and monster robots fighting but that pushes my buttons I would say it's a turn your brain off type movie.

The thing that bothered me about that film was:

<Minor spoilers>

Optimus was able to bitchslap Grimlock with one punch, and yet made a real meal out of fighting the bad guy at the end!

Not one of my favorite films but has anyone seen The Machinist? Christian Bale's best performance in my opinion even if the movie falters quite a bit.

I'll look into it, Bale lost me as Batman... (ugh). Can you rename this thread "Movies" as suggested by CrippyD, it seems to be going that way anyways.

Watched Age of Ultron at the weekedn and also Big Hero 6. Both really good films. I think that AoU is the best Marvel film so far, great action, some good laughs and a great story, the one to beat for Ant Man and phase 3. Big Hero 6 was a total surprise hit for me. Knew nothing about it, just that it was on kids AM in my local (cheap films for the kids), so we took our brood and had a fantastic time. Pre ordered the Blu Ray when we got home.

Is this the same Big Hero 6 that you can buy/rent on xbox video/iTunes etc right now? If so I'll be downloading that

Still not seen Age of Ultron yet... eligible for 2 free Odeon tickets to see it (offer with a Samsung tablet I bought recently) but you can't claim them until 30 days after the date of purchase (dumb I know). Just hope it's still showing in 3 weeks time!
