Talking Point: With Forza Horizon 5 Now On PS5, Do You Expect To See Horizon 6 Anytime Soon?

Last month, Forza Horizon 5's PS5 debut marked the first of Xbox's 'big three' franchises to move over, and despite the transition feeling a little weird to us here at PX HQ, fans have clearly been enjoying the game a lot over on PlayStation. Naturally though, we've been thinking more about what this all means for the sequel - given we've had access to FH5 on Xbox for over three years at this point.

About 18 months ago now, I took to the Pure Xbox airwaves to talk about how I wanted Forza Horizon 6 to shake things up for the series, and after dipping back into Playground Games' latest effort, I still very much feel that way more than a year on from writing it. Forza Horizon 5 is a great open-world racer, it just feels a little derivative - especially here and now in 2025.

With that being said, if a big series shakeup is inbound (akin to Forza Motorsport in 2023), how far off do you think that is? Could we realistically see Forza Horizon 6 in the next year or two? There could be an even bigger audience for it now, across multiple platforms, if Microsoft can capitalise on FH5's PS5 launch with a speedy and effective follow-up.

Again though, I don't think speed is of the essence here, even if series hype is pretty high with this new multiplatform release. At the end of the day, Playground also has Fable on its plate right now — due out in 2026 — so I think the FH6 team should take all the time it needs. Whenever the sequel does come around, I just hope it feels new and adequately refreshed from Forza Horizon 5. Xbox should aim to retain its throne as the open-world racing king, after all.
