April was such a good month for Xbox Game Pass that Towerborne kind of got overlooked in the end, but it's still the latest first-party release from on Xbox, and it's also a good game that's worth your time in our opinion!
We actually spent most of our time with Towerborne back when it was released on PC last year, and it's come quite a way since then with multiple new updates - ahead of its eventual free-to-play release at some point in the future.
For those who haven't tried it yet, you might be intrigued to hear that Towerborne is being developed by the team behind The Banner Saga, and it currently holds a 3.3/5 rating on the Xbox Store, as well as a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam.
And for those who have tried it, we're keen to hear from you! Are you enjoying Towerborne on Xbox Game Pass? What do you think about the microtransactional elements? Can you see yourself sticking with it? Tell us down below.

Bounced off it hard, its really not my sort of game. Still it does highlight the benefit of gamepass as I was at least able to give it a chance at no extra cost.
Haven't tried it yet but it looks really good! I'm trying to clear my backlog.
Only played around 2 hours so far. It’s fun. Be more fun with friends in Co-Op. nothing groundbreaking but good fun none the less.
I bounced hard. On paper I should love it. I love side scrolling brawlers, I like RPG character building, I love that its online and local co-op but it just felt like the tip of f2p grind. I think I'll introduce it to my kids and then if they like it join them.
I love it. I played Destiny for 10 years and I like the loot 'grind'*
THe art is wonderful and the music is great.
There are so many times in my life that I come home and just want to fire up a simple button masher. There are games like Streets of Rage but I like looters because I am contrinuting to something long term. In this case my power and gear score.
And the game is just fun and the power creep is fun.
*grinding as in Loot Pursuit. Not FOMO events for feeling like I have to do boring things over and over again
I bought the early access on steam last year. Super happy it's on xbox and really easy to link accounts. Couldn't get my buddies to really dive deep in it but I love it. Super easy to jump in and do a challenge or grind for hours. Just unlocked difficulty 5 and at level 40 with the huge gloves. Art is great, Music is great and it reminds me of Dragons Crown.
It's boring. Towerborne will be another failed and forgotten about live service game, it's a shame Stoic went with this direction.
I’m not really interested in trying it.
Loved the banner saga tho
Not my cup of tea …. And I have some excellent oolong in my backlog
It doesn't do anything particularly amazing. It's just... kinda generic.
Even for a beat em up it's repetitive. And doesn't throw enough enemy types at you. Also the monetization is crazy. They're selling £15 skins on the games market. Way too much for a small game like this.
I played for an hour or two, but found gameplay very repetitive. Gorgeous graphics though.
