It was all the way back in April of 2020 that Predator: Hunting Grounds made its debut on PlayStation 4 (and PC), and now it's finally getting an Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S version - albeit not until later in the year.

The news was announced today by developer IllFonic, along with plans to implement various gameplay improvements and add more DLC over the next year-or-so. As you may recall, Predator: Hunting Grounds was originally published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, but the rights are now back in the hands of IllFonic and 20th Century Games.

Here's what the CEO of IllFonic had to say in a press release a few hours ago:

“This game has a strong, enthusiastic player base and a vocal community that wants to see the game updated and supported. Now that IllFonic is publishing games, we knew we had to get Predator: Hunting Grounds back. We knew we needed to get back to the Chopper!”

Sadly, of all the ex-Sony owned games that could be brought over to Xbox, Predator: Hunting Grounds is one of the worst-reviewed ones. The game has a Metacritic score of 56 for PS4 and 62 for PC, with our sister site Push Square also calling it "an experience you can safely skip" in their "Poor" 4/10 review a few years ago.

Time has passed since then though, and the Steam version currently sits at a "Mostly Positive" average rating, so there's reason to check this game out again when it arrives on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S later in 2024.

"Hunt or be hunted in this asymmetrical multiplayer shooter that pits man against Predator. As part of a Fireteam, complete missions before the Predator finds you. Or be the Predator and hunt your prey."
