South Park: Snow Day! is out this week on all major platforms, which means impressions of this latest South Park adventure are starting to hit the web today - including ours here at Pure Xbox.

So, we've gathered some early reviews of South Park: Snow Day! to see what the critics make of it so far. Check 'em out down below!

Pure Xbox (Unscored Impressions)

"While we're more impressed than we expected to be with South Park: Snow Day! so far, we're really keen to see what the roadmap of content is for the weeks, months and (maybe?) years ahead. It's a game that feels like it's had a lot of love poured into it by little-known developer "Question", but it remains to be seen whether this is just the beginning for Xbox's latest South Park adventure, or whether it's a pretty abrupt end."

Gaming Trend (8.5/10)

"If you’ve been a fan of South Park for any amount of time, you’ll enjoy the story and find easter eggs everywhere. Snow Day is VERY different from Stick of Truth and Fractured but Whole, yet keeps the energy going from the past two games. The price is also just right at $29.99 at launch for how much you’re getting content-wise. I had a great time and think you will as well."

Dot Esports (8/10)

"South Park: Snow Day! delivers a trademark experience in an action-filled package and lays a solid foundation for further action-oriented games in the series. Once you enter the 3D world of Snow Day, you won't want to leave until you've finished the story."

Try Hard Guides (7/10)

"South Park: Snow Day! bravely departs from the series’ previous installments, offering something new and interesting as well as a continuation of a beloved story for fans. While the plot is interesting and full of that usual South Park charm, fans might not find too much of a reason to engage in the game’s intended replayability, with the game clocking in at a short but satisfying 4-5 hours."

VGC (6/10)

"Snow Day is a fun enough co-op action game while it lasts, but its repetitive nature (both in terms of its environments and its low number of stages) means you'll tire of it eventually. Dialogue is typically fantastic and the art style works better than we expected, but its low price is a key indicator of how relatively light it is on content at launch."

TheSixthAxis (6/10)

"After the successes of both Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole, South Park: Snow Day! is a big change of pace that left me with mixed feelings. It's an enjoyable game with some nice ideas, but at the same time, you'll be left wondering was this it?"

Nintendo Life (4/10)

"South Park: Snow Day! has a lot of potential with some of its roguelike-inspired mechanics but ultimately fails to deliver an engaging experience whether you're playing it solo or in co-op. Combat feels unresponsive, the technical issues are numerous (on Switch at least), and the writing is some of the weakest in the series."

IGN (3/10)

"I’m a huge fan of throwing out the rulebook to try something completely fresh, especially in this age of samey sequels and forever live-service games that increasingly play it safe, but this bold attempt at a new direction misses the mark so drastically I’m aghast at just how sideways things went. Whether it’s due to the thoroughly unenjoyable combat or the uncharacteristically toothless and unfunny story, I can’t recommend anyone waste their time on this cooperative lost cause – even my fellow die-hard South Park fans."

Those are some varied scores, then! At the moment, South Park: Snow Day! is averaging out at 62 on Metacritic and 63 on Open Critic, so it's certainly a mixed bag so far. We quite liked it, but it may be worth tempering your expectations based on such a range of review scores.
