Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 17-18)

I started playing We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie on my Switch. It looks amazing on the OLED and it’s clear the game was remade instead of remastered (played the original last year).
I also finally recieved Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters from Play-Asia.

Besides that I’m playing Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 WILDS on my ps5 and switch and I’m playing the Metal Slug Anthology on my psp.

Played both Final Fantasy XVI and Lies Of P demo both awesome. Just Received Hogwarts Legacy so started that and Im near the End of Resident Evil 4 and Dead Island 2

Nothing on Xbox at the moment……but I am getting my series s tomorrow! And just picked up the Starfield controller this morning.

Normally PlayStation and Nintendo user, but damn! Starfield looks just tooo good to pass on!

Completed Quantum Break last night maybe play some Diablo 4 and finish the FF 16 demo on ps5. Still waiting on my Starfield controller coming from Amazon was meant to be here yesterday.

Diablo IV...when my family lets me!

Mortal Kombat 11 for the first time with a little Tsushima's Creed on PS4.

Still on with Diablo 4 and probably will be till I get my hands on Forza Motorsport.

My Barbarian is now level 71 & I am enjoying the end game loop of pushing higher nightmare dungeons while perfecting my gear.

Also did a bit of PvP on my barb but there didn't seem to be a lot of folks interested in fighting. Most seem to be there to farm the npc mobs as the PvP zones somewhat ironically have the largest number of mobs in the smallest area. Makes it quite efficient for xp if you are willing to accept other folks might attack you.

Did get jumped a couple of times and won both. One was funny as I was stun locked for a lot of the fight and the rogue literally beat himself to death on my thorns (which I have invested in a lot.) He had a high attack speed and my thorns apply a bleed dot every time he hit me. So that built up really quickly to the point he couldn't out heal the damage over time. I was laughing not sure they were though 😀

Took a bit of a break to level the last class I hadn't yet touched to 50, that being the sorcerer. I can see why it's the most popular class in the game. Might be the next I try in end game.

Just picked up my new Series X from Argos so I'll be setting that up. Think I'll try the free trial of PGA Tour over this weekend as well as more Diablo IV on PS5.

This weekend is a bit slower for me due to the summer heat "finally" arriving but I'll at least make sure to play more Trails from Zero(on Switch) and maybe a bit of Insurgency: Sandstorm on Xbox with a friend of mine.
I may try to make some progress in Ghostwire Tokyo or Atelier Ryza(first game) on the PS5 aswell.

Dragon's Dogma. Got in the mood for it after the FFXVI demo.

Hollow Knight on GP! Never thought I’d enjoy this one so much since I’m normally more into AAA games.

Going to be Diablo 4 for a while

This weekend I’m playing Diablo 4. This game is an absolute blast. I convinced my best friend to buy the game, and now he can’t put it down. This is the first time in years that we have played a game cooperatively, whether with each other or someone else. It’s been really fun, too. We have just reached Act II, as we take our time and do everything we possibly can before venturing off into the main quest.

I chose the Barbarian class. I’m currently working on a crowd control build, and let me tell you - it’s absolutely sensational. My best friend is also playing as a Barbarian, and it’s interesting to see how drastic our builds are; it’s almost as if we are two different classes altogether.

With all of that said - I do have a secondary character that is a Rogue, and I’ll occasionally use him to play cooperatively. This is primarily due to having somewhat of a variety when playing together.

I also find the (side) quests to be fantastic. One in particular stood out titled Malady of the Soul. It turns out to be a lengthy 3-parter that has a good narrative with memorable characters. Another quest that is unforgettable for me is called “Cries of Innocence” (Black Asylum). It is a very twisted story involving a father and son, and it has left a lasting impression.

Overall, the grind and addiction is real. The dopamine I receive from this game is on another level. I can’t wait to play more once I’m off work tonight.

I'm gonna jump back into Halo master chief collection. I started it when I first picked up my series s back in dec '21, and got about halfway through Halo 2 before I started playing other things.

It's definitely time to jump back in.

Diablo 4, and maybe a bit of Mario Kart

Diablo IV I got bored with my Necromancer build so restarted as a Rogue, which I’m enjoying more. My character is level 23 so I still have soooooooo much to do!
Army of Ruin Great little indie game that was just released. It’s basically Vampire survivors only far better looking and a lot more polished. Also a great price (under £7). If you like Vampire survivors I highly recommend you trying this out.
Zelda TOTK I’m not particularly good at this game (have had to use YouTube several times for Shrines 😂) and I’m even worse at combat, but it’s still fun and great to just dip in and out of.

The Wolf Among Us (Vita) - Starting Episode 2 this weekend. I forgot how awesome this game is!

Imperia Online (Windows Phone) - Also still plodding along with this as well.

I'm playing the heck out of World Tour in SF6. Nothing else really.

Sands of time is my first PoP, and it's a very good game, but the camera is a little annoying and there's some really bad bugs.
I'm playing professor layton with my mother and we both enjoy it very much.
Persona 3 is my first JRPG, I love it but mostly because of social links

Zelda TOTK of course,and I bought layers of fear just to see what this game looks on the series s and it's looking realy great so far, for a system that supposedly is holding back this generation it can do magic in the right hands.

I finished totk and shantae half genie hero this week. I started up diablo 3 for the first time ever. Playing that on switch, and its good mindless fun. Now that I finished shantae on xbox, I'm looking for my next x fix. Thinking about something light like planet of lana or chicory. I also have a ton in my backlog but I kind of want to focus on GP titles.

Finishing up Sackboy: A Big Adventure and diving back into Jurassic World Evolution 2 sandbox mode

Oh, and maybe finally dipping my toes into Halo Infinite forge.

I had a quick go of Vampire Survivors through Xcloud this morning so that's now been installed, might also go for a bit of Killer Instinct and the Streets of Rage Collection from the 360 with my arcade stick.

On Switch I've swapped Zelda games to Link's Awakening

Dordogne. I think I'm nearly finished it. Gameplay-wise it's not the greatest, but it looks beautiful and absolutely worth checking out on Game Pass.

I've also started Immortality. Played a few hours and I'm not sure yet how I feel about it.

I took a couple days off from work to burn a little vacation time, and ended up playing through the entirety of both Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and PT yesterday.

Dark Messiah is now my least favorite Arkane game. I really didn't expect it to be so linear, and I like linear, but it's simply not a very fun game imo. It has some elements of the genre, but it's a stretch to call it an immersive sim. Similar to Bioshock in certain ways with the magic being similar to plasmids, and the skills being similar to tonics, but Bioshock just did it so, so much better. I ended the game with 20+ skill points I didn't even want to use. And though Dark Messiah came out a year earlier than Bioshock, it looks and plays like it came out a decade earlier. It's easy to see the inspiration drawn from Thief (and I appreciated the little Easter egg in the description of the master thief's outfit), and even how it led to Dishonored, and where the kick in Deathloop came from, but the game just didn't turn out very well. I felt like in a lot of ways it was even a step backwards from Arx Fatalis. And the dialogue... simply terrible, especially from the succubus lady. Maximum cringe.

PT... where to begin. Okay, to beat PT, you do absolutely need a microphone/headset. Based on my experience, I am convinced of it. Anyway, I spent almost an hour trying to 1.) not change my pants, and 2.) trigger the second laugh. So I'm going through practically every guide and youtube video on the internet, only to see someone comment about how they didn't realize on PS4 there is a seperate volume control menu you can access by holding down the PS button (vs going through settings) where there is an option for "mute all microphones" they had turned on... Wow... Yep. Me too. I felt so dumb! I unselected that option, and almost immediately I got the second laugh to trigger.

So now I'm playing Bayonetta 3, which is not nearly as funny or OTT as the previous game so far, but I'm still having fun with it.

I'm also playing Wolfenstein: The New Order which is fantastic so far.

I did also just learn that Amnesia: The Bunker is an immersive sim, and while I wrote off the franchise after Machine for Pigs, I will take a look at The Bunker. I heard Rebirth was terrible, reaffirming my choice to give up on the Amnesia games, but I might go back if I like the Bunker enough, just to round out my experience with the series. Would anyone actually recommend Rebirth? If so, why? Any reason to play it before The Bunker?

Just been playing some indies… the big con and Dorgone… Hades perhaps…

I plugged in my switch for Zelda, but I'm currently playing Mario Odyseey instead. Not sure how that happend!
I'll be playing FF16 as soon as I can, and I'm really looking forward to it.
I really want to pay Planet of Lana on the xbox, so maybe ill binge that for couple of days beffore FF releases.

Diablo IV and TotK for me

This weekend will be kinda simple when it comes to games. Some Metroid Prime on the Switch. I beat Fire Emblem Engage so Metroid is next up. I made it to the Phendrana Drifts and it’s incredibly pretty and honestly has made me fall in love with the game. As for the PlayStation it’s the new season of Fortnite with some pals and maybe some SF6? Otherwise probably some SpongeBob Cosmic Shake. Genuinely that gsmr is a sleeper hit of this year. I mean it all falls by the wayside when FFXVI comes out this week right hahahah. As for the anime you know it’s the usual Hell’s Paradise, Mashle, My Home Hero and Cafè Terrace. @Nightcrawler71 I started with the Necromancer and then tried out the Rogue, I haven’t gone back. I’m doing the Twisted Blade build for the Rogue and I just shred through enemies, it’s been such a blast.

I finished Jedi survivor and picked up Street Fighter 6, it’s so good to play online.

There's always someone who comes to an xbox site to say, "I'll be playing my ps5". Jolly for you. I've been playing pinball fx and looking at how the "improved" tables that I already own on pinball fx 3 are worse looking and play worse and decided zen are getting not another penny from me. It's the digital equivalent of daylight robbery. D*cks.

Same as last week, and what will be in my rotation I imagine for a long time to come... Street Fighter 6 on both Xbox Series X and PS5. If I decide to play something else it will probably be Resident Evil 4 remake, I still haven't finished that.

Diablo IV, finally...

Street Fighter 6, Halo 3, and Bravely Default 2.

Picked up TOTK and a second hand OLED Switch last week and restarted the game on Friday in the hope that it would entice my son to play something other than Minecraft and Roblox. He picked it up in no time and is now exploring beyond central Hyrule and calling it the best game ever. We're working through a few bits together but he's generally taking the lead now. Last weekend I wasn't sure I was really into it, but this weekend I can totally see why people would invest a crazy amount of hours in it. It's quite a laid back open world that doesn't seem to pressure you into doing stuff you don't want to do or can't figure out, ie if you get stuck in a shrine or battle then pin in on your map for reference and go do something else.

Having had the Switch for literally 3 days, we - and the missus - are finding the portability awesome too. And the respite from Minecraft and Roblox YT videos is a bonus too.

Been playing Dead Island 2 an started a career as Wrexham on Fifa 23. Also played the FF16 an Lies of P demos, both very good but my god there’s a lot of cut scenes in FF16!!
Got Diablo 4 for fathers day so will be playin that later wen i’ve taken kids to my dad’s.

Im playing Pokey's Corn Dog. I'm not really sure what to think of it so far.

Loving Dordogne and it’s wonderful watercolour world. Also doing some grinding in Dreamlight Valley - mining, gardening, earning coins etc. and all on my Logitech G Cloud too.

I stopped playing Fortnite on Xbox due to the lack of gyro aim support otherwise it would’ve been part of the fortnite consoles I listed 🙂

I started playing Amnesia: The Bunker and Coffee Talk

Just got the Ezio Collection so I'm going to complete those (and maybe 100%). And Far cry 2 is coming off my shelf tonight! I hope the Ezio Collection is an improvement on the 360 gameplay and visuals too.

On Xbox I’m trying out the Return to Jurassic Park DLC for JW evolution, this month is JP’s 30th anniversary after all! Also having a bash at some online Mario Kart 8 on switch.
Not picking up tears of the kingdom until I finish BotW… a task I’ve been meaning to complete for the last year lol.

Plugging slowly away at Horizon: Forbidden West on ps5.
On Xbox, I started Soulhackers 2 - which is ace (big persona fan).
But mainly I've been replaying all the Remedy games from Alan Wake onward. Just done with American nightmare and now a couple of acts into Quantum break.
