Talking Point: Will You Be Playing Through Starfield Again At 60FPS On Xbox Series X?

I tried to play it when it first came out and it was so slow just like all the other Bethesda games. I guess i could try it out again to see if the new 60 fps does anything for me, but I am not a huge fan of Bethesda games in general.

I didn’t play it when it came out - I was busy with BG3, but also the developers then said they were going to add various bits and improvements so I held off. It’ll be a first play through for me. I might save it for the usual ‘summer game drought’.

Where is the vote option for Continue playing? I hop on regularly in my current Universe. Looking forward to this update and the eventual land vehicles. Plan is to explore planets more fully with the vehicle in the meantime doing side content and building my funds the work on my ships!

I’ll be trying out the 40fps and 60fps modes, but also interested in some of the additional improvements being made for gameplay.

I think I stopped midway through playthrough 3. I'll definitely give it a go again. I already have it downloaded and waiting again. I think the last time I played was in Nov.

I sickened myself by doing tons of side missions and eventually just concentrated on completing the main story just to be done with it.

Running across planets, running out of storage space and penniless vendors just wore me down.

I get that those issues are being addressed somewhat in the coming update but it's too late for me to be tempted back.

I 100% the game. But I ll be back to it when the dlc comes out

Still haven't tried it yet so it was ever do get around it will clearly be the ultimate edition at that point

I have a Xbox/Windows PC save that is over 11 days of playtime and Steam save that is very early (got coerced into the Crimson fleet storyline for a 600-credit bounty ). I will continue with both.

Going to wait till all DLC is out and it’s fully patched before trying it again but the updates are a step in the right direction.

I didn't play it and it will stay that way. It wasn't because of the FPS. I tried it a few hours and wasn't for me.

I definitely see myself returning to finish it off. My aim is to see as much as I can in one play-through, because I have too many frustrations with its design to go any further than that.

I will maybe check it to see if my bugged side quests are now fixed but I have done all other quests I could find so I will be back deeper when dlc comes out (not really into Ng+)

I'll return for a second playthroug once I've completed Infinite Wealth and DD2.

I put in around 35 hours when it first came out, and tbh I’ve little interest in going back to it.

I was busy with other games when it came out and from the little I did play, the 30fps really worsened the experience in a shooter with constant camera movement.

So I’ll be checking out the new frame rate modes, but for my first playthrough lol

I went with "A full second playthrough" but it's not entirely accurate since I have finished 4 playthroughs and had a fifth in progress when i finally put it down. I love Starfield.

I'm gunna wait for land vehicles and will see from there, I'm still bummed my level 32 character got bumped back down to level 17 because of a save glitch.

I’ll definitely be going back for another full play through, but I’ll wait till the DLC drops later this year to do so. It’s a no brainer for me. One of my favorite games of 2023.

Again? That’s not necessarily the point is it?….Some of us tried at 30fps but gave up - this is a Godsend to us and we will be playing through for the first time.

I put about 50 hours in. Initial impression were good, I was quite enjoying the game. I think it’s a looker. Then as I put more hours in I realised it’s an incredibly dull game with bad, cringeworthy writing and awful exploration. I eventually dropped it and will never go back to it, not even at 60fps. Done with the game.

I'll give it a whirl. I really wish they would have also actually fixed the HDR instead of that current option that just blows out the brightness as well though. I've seen this game shine on PC with HDR mods. Why isn't Bethesda, a billion dollar company, able to do the same as a guy making mods in his spare time?

Waiting for the DLC, but very glad for the 40fps option as an OLED owner, I'm guessing it's going to be the best compromise.

I'm playing the new update on PC right now and it'll be a game I return to every so often, especially when the mod scene gets going

The 60 fps sweaties no longer have anything to cry and complain about now. I'm sure there will be someone though saying unable to play since it's not 5,000 fps and they get headaches anything under 2,000 fps.

Of course I will be playing with the new updates. Actually, I never stopped playing. I'm in the middle of my 3rd new game + right now.

I'll check it out, I had taken a break from the game to play FFVII Rebirth. Now have more reason to boot the game up again.

I never actually beat it so im waiting for the dlc. I did not upgrade my ship at all and I opted to fight both the ppl at the end and I didn’t have a chance in hell

Judging by the comments and previous polls, it's clear that Ben doesn't write good poll answers. They are either 80% meaning the same and/or skipping half of the possibilities. I tried the game, but I was busy with others and I put Starfield on standby, hoping for a 60fps mode that is coming earlier than I expected. I even thought they would add it next generation.

I had 200+ hours of fun when it came out. I’m done now. I don’t typically return to games.

I plan on jumping back in to test the update, I'm mid-way through a run ATM so that kinda needs doing so I can do things like the re-traiting (got some ideas for that) and see how the survival mode stuff impacts it.

This update reminds me of the updates right before Cyberpunk stopped supporting the last gen. It's good stuff, it's just not "jump back in" stuff.

Not mentioned is that it only targets 60, and that you need a VRR display to use it or you will get heavy screen tearing. It even warns you in the menu.

Missing an option: "Give it another go". A lot of people have not finished this game due to many reasons. I myself put 20hrs in I think and just stopped playing.
Not sure if it was due to another game grabbing my attention but I have not felt the need to go back to it.
I may jump back in after the update but Fallout 76 has my full attention atm.

@CaptainCluck They are just playing it safe otherwise people would start complaining they have had extra time to make it run perfect even at 60fps.
if Square Enix would have mentioned how bad the last 2 Final Fantasy games looked in performance mode (especially the second to last one) before release people would of thought they were joking.

I faded after the.... reset (!?) , having to start again with that shop I never really liked...

60fps will be nice to try out, but it won't do anything to fix my biggest complaints, which were the absolutely dull writing and characters

I lost my save for Starfield on Xbox. I had finished the game. But the save file seemed to delete for some reason. I would love to play this at 60fps, but I really would rather wait until they bring out the inevitable PS5 version, as I really am fed up playing games on the Xbox at this stage. The loss of the Starfield save really put me off using the console.

I already did 10 ng+ so no, I'm not starting over again, even though choosing a new background is very tempting (so I could pick parents and a house and really settle) . I'll jump back in when the story DLC drops though. Also, they need to make temple puzzles skippable.

No, there were too many 30fps games last year so I put together a 4080 Super PC and played through Starfield and Forza Motorsport in 4k ultra with yummy fps. The Series X feels uncomfortably old compared to the 4080S. Being able to also collect Achievements with a DualSense is pure love. I will never go back to console, never.
