Xbox Quietly Removes Upcoming Game Pass Title From July Lineup 1

Update []: An Xbox spokesperson has contacted us to confirm this is a licensing issue:

"We’re continuing to work through the necessary licensor approvals for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. We’ll share an update as soon as we have one. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is still available on Game Pass. Thanks for your patience."

Original Story: Something strange has occurred. If you recall our recent July Xbox Game Pass roundup, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 was set to join its sequel on the subscription service on July 21. However, that no longer appears to be the case.

As we were fact checking details for today's two new additions to XGP, we stumbled across an editor's note from Xbox Wire that mentioned Mr. Hawk's removal from July's lineup. Here's what it said:

Editor’s Note (7/13): We’ve removed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 from the list of titles coming soon to Game Pass.

No official word, bird, explanation or even a hint as to why this decision was made - only that it happened.

As things stand, we don't know when, or even if, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 will make itself available to Game Pass members. We suppose only time (and perhaps another editor's note) will tell.

Our thinking is the decision could be something to do with music licencing, as these sorts of things often end up being the cause of sudden removals or disputes. Whilst this is purely speculation on our part, it was what Fraser and I instinctively landed on. Even so, It's odd that a first-party Xbox game would be announced and then 'deannounced' in such a short space of time.

Game Pass members can, of course, still get their grind on with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4. Whilst it's disappointing we won't be getting what was originally promised, there's still plenty more coming to Xbox Game Pass in July, including Planet Crafter, Fogpiercer, and a little later on, Halo: Campaign Evolved!
