Back in May, Xbox announced that it was creating a "Starter Edition" of Game Pass that was specific to Discord Nitro members as part of their subscription, and now that same tier has also extended over to Meta Horizon+.
If you've never heard of it before, Meta Horizon+ is a membership that you can buy for Meta Quest VR headsets, allowing you to access 100+ VR games instantly for a monthly or yearly fee. That fee also now includes Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition as standard, providing 50+ games, 10 hours of cloud time and access to Xbox Rewards.
"For years, XBOX and Meta have teamed up to make it easier to play the games you love across more devices. Today, we’re building on that with a new benefit connected to the Meta Horizon+ subscription, giving you another way to discover and play with Game Pass, alongside the existing access to XBOX and Game Pass on Meta Quest devices.
Starting today, eligible Meta Horizon+ subscribers now get a starter edition of XBOX Game Pass where available, offering access to 50+ games, 10 hours of cloud gaming each month, and Rewards for playing."
For those who are wondering how this actually works, the access to the 50+ games applies across Xbox consoles and PC, while the 10 hours of cloud gaming are intended to be used on the headset itself with a virtual big screen.
In fact, Meta is soon going to be allowing you to use your Meta Quest Touch controllers to emulate an Xbox controller, with this set to be rolled out in the coming weeks. Alternatively, you can just pair a standard Xbox controller to it.
"And soon you can use your Meta Quest Touch controllers to emulate an XBOX gamepad. Rolling out in the coming weeks, the gamepad emulator maps your Meta Quest Touch controllers to function like an XBOX controller, so you can jump into Game Pass games right away. Try XBOX games without pairing a gamepad. Already have a gamepad? Simply pair it to your headset for a traditional controller experience."
So, if you happen to be a Meta Horizon+ subscriber, you should now automatically have access to Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition - the list of games is the same as what you get with Xbox Game Pass Essential, and you don't have to pay any additional fees for it! A nice benefit if you happen to be a VR fanatic.
