Two 'Day One' Games Are Available Today Across Xbox And PC Game Pass (July 22)

Ready for some more Xbox Game Pass additions? We've got two of them joining across a couple of tiers of the service today, with Shift at Midnight arriving for console and PC, and Tears of Metal being exclusive to just PC players for now.

Shift at Midnight is an online co-op detective horror game where you'll need to manage a gas station and interrogate your customers as some of them aren't as human as they look! Reactions to the multiplayer demo on Steam have been "Overwhelmingly Positive", and we can see this being the kind of game that proves highly popular on Xbox.

The release time for Shift at Midnight on Xbox Game Pass is 8am PDT / 11am EDT / 4pm BST.

Our second "day one" release today is for Tears of Metal, which bizarrely wasn't mentioned in Microsoft's official roundup yesterday, but nevertheless is still scheduled to release on time as things stand.

Tears of Metal is an action-adventure game that you can play either solo or with up to three other players, fighting to "reclaim your island alongside your Scottish battalion". There is an Xbox console version in the works (an official press release says it'll be out before the end of 2026), but for now it's just exclusive to PC in early access.

The release time for Tears of Metal on PC Game Pass is also 8am PDT / 11am EDT / 4pm BST.

Shift at Midnight - Series X|S, PC, Cloud (Ultimate, PC)

An online co-op detective horror for up to 3 players. Work together across randomly generated shifts to investigate your customers, as some are only pretending to be human. Make one mistake, and you’ll be forced to board up, set traps, and hide.

Tears of Metal - PC (Ultimate, PC)

Fight solo or up to 4-player co-op to reclaim your island alongside your Scottish battalion. On each campaign, gain new powerful upgrades, rally your forces, and stop the invader as they carve into the Mother Stone to harvest its power.
