In a bizarre last minute decision, the developers behind Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game have been "forced to delay" the Xbox version until sometime before September 3.
The announcement came via the game's official Twitter/X account in the early hours of July 23, just hours before launch. Addressing the Xbox community, the team explained they had been "forced" to postpone the Xbox release due to "unforeseen circumstances on a backend feature".
"For the Xbox Community, we are forced to delay the release. Due to unforeseen circumstances on a backend feature, we will now launch by September 3. Existing pre-orders will remain active and will not be cancelled."
Whilst the game is now available on PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch (although the Switch version launched with limited crossplay functionality as also mentioned in this update) Xbox players will unfortunately have to wait a little longer to play.
More disappointingly, there's no official word on refunds for those who pre-ordered the Xbox version and would rather crack on with the game on another platform. Instead, the devs have confirmed that pre-orders will "remain active and will not be cancelled".
It would have been nice to give customers autonomy of whether to keep their pre-order or request a refund, which in some cases can't be refunded through Xbox's 14-day policy. I suppose the fact the studio has committed to a release before September 3 might suggest the delay may be a relatively short one. Still, freedom of customer satisfaction would have been appreciated.
