ASUS Issues Mini Statement Confirming Standalone Version Of ROG Xbox Ally X20

When ASUS first revealed the ROG Xbox Ally X20 back at the start of June, it was only mentioned to be releasing as part of a bundle with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses, but a new statement from the company has now confirmed that it'll be sold standalone as well (as we always expected to be honest!).

This is coming from The Verge, which was contacted by an ASUS spokesperson to reveal that the company is working on the release schedule for this standalone version, although we don't have a date or price as of yet.

Asus will sell a standalone version of the OLED Ally as well, spokesperson Anthony Spence confirms to The Verge. “We are actively discussing the release schedule for a standalone version of the new Ally. Please stay tuned for upcoming announcements.”

If you don't recall, the main difference between the ROG Xbox Ally X and the ROG Xbox Ally X20 is the bigger OLED screen, although it also features other improvements such as TMR joysticks, a new transforming d-pad, redesigned face buttons and rubberised grips for extra comfort.

Those who have had a chance to preview the X20 already have had great things to say about it:

It should be noted that the existing ROG Xbox Ally X already retails for a whopping £799.99 / $999.99, so we're almost certainly breaking the $1,000 USD barrier for the X20, and potentially even the £1,000 barrier here in the UK as well.

Stay tuned for more details on the date and price for the ROG Xbox Ally X20 whenever we get them, and here's hoping it won't be too long - with so many people having previewed it already, it seems like it might get a release in 2026.
