Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima has teased on social media that filming has recommenced for the upcoming Xbox exclusive OD.

The game was formally announced all the way back in 2022, with the first teaser arriving a year later.

It was also revealed that Kojima was co-writing the game with actor, comedian, and filmmaker Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) and that Sophia Lillis (It, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves) would be taking a lead role alongside Hunter Schafer (Euphoria, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Udo Kier (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Barb Wire, Blade).

Another look at the game arrived in 2025, with a second teaser – subtitled "Knock" – showing Lillis' character recoiling in terror after performing a ritual.

A short time after that teaser went live in 2025, Kojima stated that veteran German actor Udo Kier had passed away before he could record any of his motion-capture performance for the game, and that development would resume this year – as these on-set images attest.

In an interview with anaweb last year, Kojima spoke a little about his hopes for the game:

"I can’t say exactly what it is yet, nor do I know if it will work out. We’ve created stealth games and delivery games which were unlike anything before, but system-wise, they were similar to other games. This time, we’re trying to change the service model from the ground up, so it should be quite challenging. We’ve packed the trailer full of hints, so if you keep thinking about it, you might figure it out."
