Forza Horizon 6 Smashes Concurrent Player Record For Xbox Game Studios On Steam

Less than a week ago, we spoke about how popular Forza Horizon 6 was proving to be in early access on Steam - and to no-one's surprise, that's continued with the full release. In fact, Playground's new racer has now become the most-played Xbox Game Studios title on Steam in terms of concurrent players; a massive achievement for the team.

Taking a look the very useful SteamDB stats page, Forza Horizon 6 managed a peak player count of 273,148 on launch day, May 19th. With that number, it's shot to the top of the list for concurrent players on an Xbox Game Studios title - beating out the previous record holder — Halo Infinite — by about 500 players.

As you can see in the above image there, what makes this even more impressive is that those Halo numbers will have been gathered through the game's free-to-play multiplayer suite, whereas Forza Horizon costs a minimum of $70 right now. In fact, hundreds of thousands of folks jumped in during the game's $120 early access period - so yeah, it's safe to say there was some serious appetite for this title on Steam.

One thing we do want to note is that these numbers don't count Activision and Bethesda titles - the Call of Duty hub alongside various Bethesda titles such as Fallout 4, Skyrim and Starfield beat this number when they first launched on Steam. Those titles have a huge fanbase on PC though — particularly the Bethesda efforts — so it's perhaps understandable that they've come in higher up here.

Forza Horizon 6 just continues to smash it either way, and we can only think how successful this game will be when factoring in Xbox sales, Game Pass numbers, and those eventual PS5 units as well. Bravo, Playground!
